Economics Two of the most concise definitions of economics are as follows: Economics is the study of production, consumption and allocation decisions under conditions of scarcity, or as the author of The Armchair Economist, Steven Landsburg, says, economics boils down to four words, “People respond to incentives.” Everything else is noise. Accounting A concise definition of accounting is not easy since the word has a broad application within businesses. The American Accounting Association define accounting as follows: "the process of identifying, measuring and communicating economic information to permit informed judgements and decisions by users of the information! Law Collectively, the whole body of rules relating to one subject, or emanating from one source; -- including usually the writings pertaining to them, and judicial proceedings under them; as, divine law; English law; Roman law; the law of real property; insurance law.
