Secrets Maths of the I Ching (Ye Jing) - ‘The Chinese Book of Changes’.

The 2 River Maps and the values of Heaven and Earth, when put together, give the measure of the ancient 360 day year calendar and the exact amount of years in Precession. The workings of time are found in the values of 64 cubes of Hexagrams in the math of the 2 River Maps, which in the Ho Tu give 4 x 8 x 8 squares or 64 symmetrically placed Hexagrams producing a 5th central square of values (the Chinese maths always claimed that was a 5th central set of values). The values of the Binary Lines, Trigrams, and cubes/Hexagrams produce the dimensions of  ‘The Sacred Mountain’ - see ‘Maths of ‘The Changes’, or read blog ‘The Sum of Things’. This new maths gives the workings of the 6 and 7 days or steps of creation through the values of the 40 days and 40 nights, these values concur with the structure of time and measure as we still know them. Anyone can work out how this simple and easy maths works in my controversial new book that also explains all ramification of how our view of the world will change by unravelling this secret and sacred code. All our spiritual and scientific investigations are drawn together through these maths and the reading given to the Hexagrams to give an inner or personal revolution. This is all explained in the:-

 ‘The Sum of Things’
By Paul Martyn-Smith.

This 332 page paperback is now out of stock, but a free download is available from ‘The Sum of Things is now Published’ in the blog.

This book has already been acclaimed as a revelation, and the maths and geometry has been acknowledged by many working in various fields that link together - see various links below. Also the author has posted many discussions on GHMB (Graham Hancock’s Forum) as P Mac.

‘The Sum of Things’ provides a means to understanding the symbolism of the ancients, and I use the texts of the ‘I Ching’ to show and how symbolism relates to directions of the 2 River Maps of Ho Tu, and Lo Shu (Yellow and Lo River maps), out of which civilization (our whole base of culture) is said to have arisen (bringing order out of the chaos of a primal dark ocean). The River Maps contain the measure of our universe being - the first map the Ho Tu reveals the transitions of days and nights, quarters, and the years. The sum of the Ho T’u is 8 x 8 x 8 squares or 4 cubic diamonds that constructs the 4 sided diamond of the sacred mountain (U4), and these fit into the Lo Shu (Magic Square of Saturn or Time) to reveal an exact number of years in the movement of Precession (25,920 years x 2 = 51,840 = 720 degrees), the measure of the Earth’s Mean Circumference, and the Equatorial Circumference. In the directions of ‘The Maps’ the movement of time were ordered by our ancestors into a binary sequence that fits natural integers from 1 to 10, as a set of cubic values - and a cubic universal binary code. This code of Heaven is also found in the measure of body, of our body, the dimensions of the universal body of Earth (the field of action).

The value’s of the Hexagrams relate to the cubic year of 8460 hours of a 360 day-year used also by Egyptian, Hebrew, and Sumerian - see page 311 in Wilhelm’s I Ching when this value is increased by 1 part (divided by 72), as it produces the extra 73rd part of 120 hours, or the 5 days of the Solar year (365 days) on which the gods were said to be born. This division also gives a value equal in English feet to the mean circumference of the Earth in the values of 360 and 365 days used by Thoth (24,886 miles in 360 x 365 = 131400 English Feet). The values found in the I Ching also appear in the King List of Sumer, and are encompassed in the knowledge of ‘The Fish’ to form the sacred dimensions given to Gilgamesh by the ‘Great Fish’ so he could escape the great inundation or flood: So the further values of 24,883.2 and 24,902.7 are given in the Hexagrams.

The symbolism of the ‘Book of Changes’ is explained in depth, it gives a story of how through the division of the waters (the moon rules the waters) the tyrant of darkness was overcome, as the light/energy rose-up within the Earth (matter) to create all things. The people (parts or forces of nature - demonic pantheon) were then able to inhabited the Promised Land (that was built or rested upon the Sacred Mountain). But to remind the people of the time of darkness and toil, at the time when the dark was full or greatest the people held the Ceremony of the Sacrifice (this being the Winter Solstice - the time of Return), and at this time they called upon and gave reverence to their Ancestors who had sacrificed themselves in order to give their children life. The ‘Children of the Light’ feasted on the meat of the boar and pheasant, which was cooked in the vessel (Caldron), and they stood before the king who gave his judgments of the law.

The reading’s of the I Ching contain a creation story in which its maths are linked to the coming of the light through the law of physics. The readings give a means to produce physical movement of the body through its lines of energy or Chi, which we view as psychology (in mind). The union is between the body (matter), and mind (energy), between water and fire, as through the law or will of Heaven all things are balanced in the middle point of observation - the single point of observation is the inner eye or single gate, as all opposite movements of duality. If the balance of created movement is not maintained, as it is not when the middle position is lost to our knowledge, nature swings too far against its opposite sides (sides of the Well -  source) and then the vessel breaks apart. The return of the knowledge of the ‘Middle Way’ allow us to find the eternal part of our nature, as then involvement in the conflict of opposite movement is overcome.

This is the puzzle of an ancient civilization who left their complete understanding of the union of Heaven and Earth in ‘The Chinese Book of Changes’. The puzzle, left by Fu Hsi, the Yellow Emperors Yoa,Yu, and Shun, is undone by reading the verses of the Judgments and Law appended to the Hexagrams (Star of David or Seal of Solomon). The Judgments and Law is the will of Heaven, as creation is carried out through the firm law set into 64 universal binary cubes (cubic hexagon - found in the Quantum Standard Model as G2).

In the texts it is stated that Fu Hsi studied the movement of Heaven and the diversities of earth, and through these he put in place the Trigrams, the Ho Tu, and as they work together also the Lo Shu. From these all the movements of Heaven and the things of Earth follow in their course as the values of the Maps give the structure of time and the dimensions of the spheres (the values relate to the size of the Earth, Moon, and Sun and indeed the other 7 visible planets.

The Yellow Emperors are said to have put in place the alternations of light and dark (the days and nights), so that the people (created parts) found order and were able to hold a market in which they exchanged their goods. The people were then able to return home - as through the exchange of goods all of the works of creation were completed. Thus Heaven created all the transformations on Earth in x 6, therefore the ruler of the dark, the Moon, is x 6. In the workings of the physical body there are 6 centres of energy, plus a 7th that stands beyond or above the eyes and ears (the place of inner vision and voice). Through these transformations of the dark body, light was reborn as it came forth from within matter, as the Sun is x 7. The ‘Great Man’ created all of the movements of Earth as x 6, and in the coming of the light x 7 he rested upon his bed, for all things had been into their correct place - these are the 6 and 7 steps.

In the I Ching it says: The sage rises-up as if on the back of 6 headless dragons, to attain Heaven’, as without intention or forethought the place of the 7th step, the place of rest, is attained. The steps therefore are states of awareness of the creative process within the body that is constructed in the 6 steps, and upon the attainment of the 7th level the sage allows universal wisdom (the law) to move matter, while he rests in a state of clear awareness in the 6 centres or Chakra of physical movement (the movement is on 384 lines of energy).

In the workings of the Ho Tu there are 40 light and 40 dark numbers, these are the 40 days and nights, as through the 40 days and nights the ‘Great Man’ crossed over the great waters to reach the mountain that rose-up out of the waters, and upon the mountain his vessel came to rest. The addition of the central value of 5s is also looked at the blog ‘Magic Square of the Sun’  The ‘Great Man’ had placed all the animals into a vessel 2 by 2, an thereby all the trigrams and hexagrams give their values as opposite pairs of male and female symbolic animals, as each has an animal symbol attributed to it that has a physical or psychological meaning gained from its form or habits (as in the case of the tortoise, boar, and pheasant). In their pairings the values construct the vessel into which the food for sacrifice is placed, as the numbers in the Ho Tu are placed with the materials or elements that go into making the Caldron (Ting) that symbolizes the universe itself.

When the numbers of Heaven and Earth are placed into the ‘Original Trigrams’, (triangles) as Heaven has all unbroken light lines, and Earth all broken lines, all the values produced = x 6. All the numbers in all the directions of the Ho Tu are pairs + 5, as in 1 and 6, or 2 and 7,  then produce a progression of 10s. Both 5 and 10 are given as the inner or central values of the Ho Tu because they are its means of progression. In the pairs of the outer numbers each pair produces a square of hexagrams 8 x 8, so there are 4 squares of values in the outer directions, and they gone on to produce the 5th central square of values. As there are 40 light and 40 dark values between 6 and 534 in the workings of the Ho Tu, the total amount of hexagrams = 8 x 8 x 8.

The values of the Ho Tu and Lo Shu give a 6th division of the circle, and a 12th division of a circle as 2 hexagrams are placed together as opposite pairs. The hexagram contains a rectangle (as is found in a hexagon) that was called the ‘Measure of the Fish’ by Archimedes. ‘The Measure of the Fish’ is made up of 2 intersecting circles of Vesica Piscis, and the sign of the fish is found to constructed of a 6th and a 12th division of the circle. The movement of the fish through waters is achieved through the movement of its tail (tale), the physical world that moves to and fro between the days and nights (the light and dark - the two twins).

We can thus summarize that ‘Chinese Sacred Geometry’ has been passed down to us through various sources, from Egyptian, Hebrew, and Greek, etc, whom had gained information from Sumer, China, and other early cultures but the source remains unknown. One of the main themes of my own investigation has surrounded the rites of Kubaca, to whom Abraham built an altar. Kubaca is the root word for cube, she is the black cubic meteor/stone, which is now enshrined in Mecca. This is the image of the ‘Black Madonna’, and of the Kabiri or Deluge Gods (the metal worker’s of Vulcan), that stood in the Cabirium (Temple), as a reversal that entwined the light male, as Yin and Yang, as Osiris and Isis who brought forth Horus (the Son/Sun - He who is on high). This narrative shows how inner energy is manifested in the outer external field, as the ancients knew the light of the sun arose from energy contained within matter, and that the structure of energy within matter was viewed in the observations of mind. In this way they linked all parts together in union, as one is a reflection of the other.

In Conclusion: - The math of the I Ching reveals how the ancients constructed both time and space as a uniformity, as the division of their year was purposely based on 360 which is the division of both time, and space when the extra 73rd part is added. These workings are present in the structure of natural integers and are cubic, therefore the ancients understood that time and space could be fitted into 64 cubes or Hexagrams (6 pointed stars), as a binary code of light and dark, male and female. This unravelling of the math shows that the Ho Tu and Lo Shu function together as a single unit, to create a vessel in which to cross-over the great universal waters.

The use of the same values as found in the working’s of ‘The Changes’ with its base of the 360 day-year can be seen in the 360 day-year is indeed a Lunar value but so is the 384 days of 13 Lunar Months. The book explains how this all fits the run of the Lunar Synodic, Sidereal, Draconic, and Anomalistic Months, which Halley called Saros = 6585.33 days or Triple Saros that was known to the Sumerian and its links to the Imperial Measure etc.

It has come to my attention the same maths have been found in the Egyptian system, ones which go to the depths of these maths as far as fitting the values in the Hexagrams into the dimension of Earth, and the movement’s of Heaven through the rectangle of  ‘The Measure of the Fish’.

Derek Skhane has done a great amount of work recently in essay’s on I Ching, this extends to values in Ho Tu, Lo Shu, and Magic Square of The Well recently. He explores links to the maths within Greek maths and much much more:

You can also look at Geoff Simmons’s site, which is of great interest, he explores a lot the geometric:

See Stephen W. Dail’s site of Celestial Chessworks - well worth a visit to see how the same values from I Ching apply to other subjects:

Rob Miller’s site gives maths and geometric links to the values of ‘The Changes’ plus much of interest, his work interweaves with Geoff, Derek, and Stephen:

Also go and visit this site about stem or core energy (Chi) of the physical body:

Please go to link below and read article 2, to see the same values as used in this work, but arrived at from a different path. I noted this site has been updated recently to include even more of the same value gained from the Book of Changes from something called Sumerian Mapping but this site also now links the values to I Ching - see Article 2.
