Take the Derby City Express Google Earth Tours!

Google Earth* is an interactive web-based software program that uses satellite images, interactive maps, and a simple user-friendly interface that allows the user to “fly” any where in the world.  It’s free and just about the coolest tool for arm-chair rail fanning you’ve ever seen.

Google Earth Rail Fan and local tours will be developed over the next few months.  Check back often for the latest tours.  Download the files below.  You must have Google Earth installed to use the files.  See below for installation information.

After downloading the tours, double click on the downloaded file to open Google Earth and start the tour.  After the tour ends, zoom out and click on the push pins to get additional details about the sites.

*Go to the Google Earth website at http://earth.google.com/ and download the version for your computer.  Please read carefully the system requirements for this program. It works best with high speed internet (broadband or cable). Mac users - if you have a non-intel machine, download the previous version 3.  PC users - if your machine is more than a couple years old of if you’re running Windows 98, you will have difficulty.  Google Earth is one of those things that makes upgrading worth it!
