I have a background in technology enhanced learning that goes back to the late seventies, and an enthusiasm to see sensible deployment of technology in a wide variety of contexts.
I am also active in a number of arenas - for example:
As the previous Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education, I am very familiar with the use of technology harnessed to improve the education of children and adults using artificial intelligence in appropriate ways.
I am also involved in the work of the DAPPPLE research network. Its main aim is to draw together researchers from performing arts, narrative, drama, digital games, computer science, artificial intelligence and education to focus on improving the creative aspects of learning using digital learning environments, and to create a strong vibrant research community interested particularly in creativity, narrative, learning, drama and games as well as the importance of pleasure of learning in creative contexts.
I also recommend the Learner Modelling for Reflection (LeMoRe) research network which is a small network of people researching into the use of learner models for encouraging learners to reflect in a variety of ways on their own learning.
