The Gospel According to the Beatles (Hardcover Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

John Lennon famously proclaimed the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Music journalist Turner says they were a kind of religion in themselves, and in this entertaining look at their religious and spiritual influences and ideas, he examines each of the Beatles' attitudes toward religion. Lennon, who sang in his local church choir while growing up in Liverpool, was fascinated by the life of the historical Jesus. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr didn't have particularly strong religious feelings. George Harrison increasingly leaned toward Eastern religion. They had in common skepticism toward orthodox religion. Turner follows the arc of the Beatles' remarkable career and also examines their individual lives. While much of the information and anecdotes Turner relays is familiar to Beatles fans, his spiritual perspective refreshens it all. A longtime Beatles admirer, Turner clearly loves the band and the music they created. Fellow fans are sure to appreciate the personal engagement that he brings to the material.

In 1967, drug guru Timothy Leary proclaimed, "The message from Liverpool is the Newest Testament, chanted by Four Evangelists-saints John, Paul,
George, and Ringo." Leary certainly captured the feelings of a generation pursuing freedom from old social conventions and searching for love in the lyrics, looks and music of the Beatles. In less than a decade, the group evolved from the fun-loving frantic boys of A Hard Day's Night (1964) to the philosophical poets of Abbey Road (1969) and Let It Be (1970), weaving more references to religion and spirituality into their music. Acclaimed pop music writer Turner attempts to reveal the "gospel" of the Fab Four in this book. He recounts the already well-known biographies of each Beatle, pointing out that each had some early brushes with either the Church of England or Roman Catholicism. Turner takes John Lennon's now-infamous 1966 claim that the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus" as his starting point and then examines the well-known turn East that the group took in the late 1960s.

Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the music of the Beatles by Geoff Emerick and Howard Massey (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

Emerick was a fresh-faced young engineer in April 1966 when producer George Martin offered him the chance to work with the Beatles on what would become Revolver. Always aiming for perfection, the Beatles never took no for an answer, and he did his best to oblige by developing innovative recording techniques, some simple (e.g., using a loudspeaker as a microphone), others more sophisticated. Being the Beatles' engineer wasn't entirely pleasant. Eventually, during the tense and uncomfortable White Album sessions, the Beatles barely spoke to one another without anger, and Emerick quit before recording was finished. But he returned to work on Abbey Road and several McCartney solo records, including Band on the Run.

Anyone interested in the Beatles and their music ought to love Emerick's as-told-to insider's account of working with the world's most famous band when they made their most famous music. From their use of tape loops and their labor-intensive fascination with rolling tape backwards, the Beatles-and Emerick-reveled in shaking things up. Less remarkable are Emerick's personal recollections of the band members. He concedes the group never really fraternized with him-and he seems to have taken it personally. The gregarious McCartney is recalled fondly, while
Lennon is "caustic," Ringo "bland" and Harrison "sarcastic" and "furtive." Still, the book packs its share of surprises and will delight Beatle fans curious about how the band's groundbreaking records were made.

"The Beatles: The Biography," by Bob Spitz (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

In just under 1,000 pages, Spitz offers a fresh, terrifically entertaining perspective on the world's most famous rock group. The book is packed with details and anecdotes that bring the Fab Four to life. Immensely talented but humanly flawed, they created remarkable music during an extraordinary time and were often caught up in events and circumstances beyond their control.

At first amused by Beatlemania, their attitudes changed to horror when the roar of the crowds came to include death threats, and obligations became unrelenting. Spitz retells many familiar stories: when
John met Paul, the triumph in America, the infamous "butcher cover" of Yesterday and Today, the debacle in Manila where the Beatles unintentionally jilted First Lady Imelda Marcos, the Beatles-are-more-popular-than-Jesus comment, the remarkable response to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, manager Brian Epstein's death, and the breakup.

Good though less well known is the meeting with Elvis in the King's rented house in Bel Air, California; the Beatles, nervous in the presence of a boyhood idol, were unsure about how to act and resorted to embarrassing silence. Spitz's group portrait should now be considered the definitive
Beatles biography, especially for new generations of Beatles enthusiasts.

"Screening the Beatles Myth: Movies, Documentaries, Spoofs and Cartoons" by Roland Reiter (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

From 1962 to 1970 The Beatles were the central force in various forms of popular culture, ranging from music and fashion to film and television. Although the band's musical output has been thoroughly discussed in a multitude of books, the importance of their film work has been largely ignored. The Beatles' movies were a vital factor in communicating the band's ever changing array of images, attitudes, ideas, and musical styles. Screening the Beatles Myth provides the production history and a contextual interpretation of The Beatles' movies and describes their ability to project the group's image at different stages in their career.

The book also includes a discussion of all of The Beatles' promotional films and videos, as well as their television cartoon series and their self-produced television special Magical Mystery Tour. Along with The Beatles' feature movies and promotional films, this analysis also contains documentaries, such as The Compleat Bea!tles and Anthology, as well as dramatizations of the band's history, such as Backbeat, The Hours and Times, and Two of Us.

Screening the Beatles Myth is the most comprehensive book to date about The Beatles' films and provides a fresh perspective on the band's extraordinary history. It contains material from exclusive interviews with many of The Beatles' friends and colleagues, including Astrid Kirchherr, Rod Davis, Bill Harry, Ken Brown, John Lowe, May Pang, and many others.

"The Hurdy Gurdy Man" by Donovan (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

A folk rocker and early prince of flower power, Donovan (b. 1946) shares wistful memories of his youth growing up in bombed-out Glasgow, Scotland; rambling adolescence in England; and precipitous stardom at age 18. Early on, Donovan (who's known by his first name) contracted polio, leaving him lame. An art student, Donovan left home by 16 to wander with his lifelong friend Gypsy Dave and taught himself how to play guitar by mimicking the folk styles of the Carter Family, Doc Watson, Woody Guthrie and Ramblin' Jack Elliott, among others he credits. After appearances on the British TV show Ready Steady Go! in 1965, he landed a record contract, and Catch the Wind (with its Bob Dylanesque sound) rode the crest of the British Invasion. Fusing folk with jazz and metal, Donovan forged "Celtic rock," and in his recording sessions, engineered brilliantly by Mickie Most, he worked with all the happening musicians and even collaborated with the
Beatles. Donovan toots his own horn, amiably. As he achieves in his music, Donovan writes his bohemian manifesto personably and earnestly, stopping short around 1970, when he reunited with muse Linda Lawrence and dropped out.

The quintessential flower-child musician begins his memoirs in the Scots of Glasgow, where he was born in 1946. Moving with his family to England, he changed his accent to conform to new surroundings. He heard Bill Haley and the Comets while still in Scotland, bought Buddy Holly records in England, and as a teenager turned to Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie. At 16, he left home, hitchhiking to Cornwall to lead an itinerant life. Eventually settling in London, he made his first records, prided himself on being the Scottish Woody Guthrie, and enjoyed his first real success with the hit "Catch the Wind" and his first American tour. Anecdotal and name-dropping, he also discusses the British rock invasion of America, folk-rock, his first LSD trip, his drug bust in London, and a visit from a
Paul McCartney armed with tunes that would eventually be "Eleanor Rigby" and "Yellow Submarine." In the late sixties, tired of it all, he walked away from the music business. A warm, gentle recollection of a turbulent time.

"Meet the Beatles : A Cultural History of the Band That Shook Youth, Gender, and the World" by Steven D. Stark (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

In the introduction, Stark boldly asks, "Why on earth would anyone need another book about the Beatles?" He proceeds to describe his as an attempt to connect the band to "the larger cultural forces they triggered and came to represent." To that end, he expounds on the provocative premises that the Beatles feminized the culture, challenging the concept of masculinity, while Beatlemania empowered young women; that the group converged with its era in an unprecedented way, coming to embody 1960s counterculture; and that it possessed an unprecedented power over crowds.

Adopting a generally chronological approach, Stark examines the Beatles' musical development as they continually reinvented themselves from their Liverpool days to their late '60s dissolution, which mirrored the collapse of the counterculture, and offers perceptive insights into their continuing appeal.

Although he treads well-covered ground, Stark draws from fresh interviews with more than 100 Beatles experts and intimates and convinces us that his contribution is at least as worthy as the entire plethora of self-important insiders' memoirs and coffee-table tomes.

"MAGICAL MYSTERY TOURS: My Life with the Beatles" by Tony Bramwell (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER!

Tony Bramwell, a longtime
Beatles business associate and childhood friend, offers a fond, intimate portrait of the Fab Four. His often gossipy recollections illuminate the players from their days as young "scousers" in working-class Liverpool to their formation as a group, and from their exhausting early stints in Hamburg to their astonishing stardom. Readers will be surprised to learn how much money the Beatles left on the table owing to the bad deals that Brian Epstein, the Beatles' respected but conflicted manager, made. Still, the group remained fiercely loyal to Epstein, who made them-and many others-rich beyond their dreams, cutting deals in what was then uncharted business territory. Throughout, Paul comes off as down to earth, Ringo as sophisticated and "Hollywood," and George, charming and gentle, if a bit unusual. Not surprisingly, it is John who piques the most interest. Bramwell blisters Yoko Ono, "the Princess of Darkness," and suggests that either she brainwashed John or that he was suffering from mental illness. Although music historians and Beatles collectors may feel they know the story, Bramwell's memoir is much more than Beatles history. Energetically written, this is a vivid and intensely personal look at not only the Beatles but at a storybook trip from the docks of Liverpool to swinging London and the very epicenter of the British invasion.iew.

Bramwell knew George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon from the time they grew up together in Liverpool. (He met Ringo when he joined the Beatles.) He stayed close by them for every step of the Beatles' meteoric rise - supporting them in business and, even more often, in their personal lives.

Bramwell stayed with the Beatles through their time at Apple Records and their ascent to stardom, beginning with their first appearance in the U.S. in the early 1960s. Bramwell's story reveals fresh insight into the Beatles' childhoods and families, their early recordings and songwriting, Yoko's pursuit of John and her influence over the group, and much more.

"MAGICAL MYSTERY TOURS: My Life with the Beatles" is an insider look at the Beatles that rock music fans have been waiting for, for years.

The animated classic -- now in a spectacular picture book!

Once upon a time (or maybe twice), some 80,000 leagues beneath the sea, there lay a colorful land of song and laughter called Pepperland, where Sergeant Pepper's Band was always playing your song -- until the Blue Meanies burst on the scene and chased all the music and magic away. So began the classic 1968 film Yellow Submarine, inspired by a song and hailed as an avant-garde amalgam of pop art, Beatles music, and highly innovative animation. Now that film's dazzling images -- and its lighthearted, witty tale -- is showcased in a glorious picture book sure to be savored by fans of all ages.

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

The Beatles are always in the news and in our hearts. February 2004 marks the 40th anniversary of the
Beatles' first trip to America, an historic event that was captured by the young photojournalist Harry Benson.

Benson was commissioned to accompany the Beatles to Paris in January 1964, where he took his famous photograph of the pillow fight the night they learned that "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had climbed to number one on the U.S. pop charts. He was with them on February 7, when they stepped out of their plane in New York and into the pandemonium of Beatlemania, American-style.

In Miami, he introduced the Beatles to Muhammad Ali, and later that year he covered the filming of "A Hard Day's Night."

He was with them in Chicago in 1966, when John Lennon was quoted as saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, and covered their last tour as a band.

He documented the eye of the hurricane: four guys in their twenties at the center of the known universe.

NEW DVD REVEALS THE INSIDE STORY OF THE BEATLES FIRST U.S. VISIT

The only film revealing the inside story of The Beatles conquest of America is to be released next month (February) on a new DVD to mark the anniversary of the birth of Beatlemania in the USA.

"The Beatles First US Visit " DVD, which includes never-seen-before footage, chronicles the remarkable two weeks in February 1964 that began America's still-enduring love affair with the group.

The film of the frantic fortnight records the hysterical reaction to The Beatles US debut in a documentary that was the real-life inspiration for the Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night." Closely shot at the shoulders of John, Paul, George and Ringo by the pioneering Maysles Brothers, "The First US Visit "innovated intimate film-making that set a benchmark for rock and roll cinematography.

Albert and David Maysles were granted all-areas access the like of which is now unknown, filming The Beatles in the eye of their own hurricane as the band besotted America and lifted the nation from its gloom in the wake of President John Kennedy's assassination.

"The First US Visit" will be released by Apple Corps/Capitol Records on
February 3rd in the USA and by Apple Corps/EMI Records on February 9th in the UK and rest of the world. The DVD release will follow exclusive theatrical premieres in New York, Los Angeles and London.

The Maysles film captures the manic moments from when thousands of fans greeted The Beatles as Pan Am Flt.101 touched down in New York on February 7th and sparked a two-week frenzy.

BEATLES FIRST US VISIT 2

As The Beatles became the first British act to conquer America - with "I Want To Hold Your Hand" at No.1 in the US charts - the Maysles Brothers shadowed the band off-guard and off-duty in dressing rooms, hotels and night clubs, at photo-sessions and press conferences, travelling together in limos and on trains as the then-wide-eyed lads from Liverpool sped from New York to Washington and Miami revelling in the wild reception to their first US trip.

Besides the revealing footage of The Beatles offstage, the DVD also features their first concert at The Washington Coliseum and their three historic performances on The Ed Sullivan Show - including the seminal night of February 9th when the band first exploded into the homes of a then-world record 73 million TV viewers.

Beatles performances on the DVD include "All My Loving," "Till There Was You," "She Loves You," "From Me To You," "This Boy," "Twist And Shout," "Please Please Me," "I Saw Her Standing There," "I Wanna Be Your Man" and the hit that began it all for America, "I Want To Hold Your Hand. "

The original black and white film - which was first shown on US and UK TV in 1964 as a 40-minute program - has been re-graded and the sound re-mastered for the new 80-minute version. The DVD also includes a 50-minute "Making Of The Beatles First US Visit," featuring footage that has never been seen before. The DVD also includes a new and revealing interview with cameraman Albert Maysles.

Subtitled in nine languages, The Beatles First US Visit DVD chronicles one of the greatest cultural events of the 20th Century and is a permanent record for generations who still remember where they were when the legend began.

HARDCOVER EDITION

PAPERBACK EDITION

"The Beatles Are Coming!" is the fifth book by Beatles author/historian Bruce Spizer. The book covers the Beatles first visit to the United States and the events leading up to the group's arrival on February 7, 1964. The book is 246 pages and contains over 450 images, including over 50 previously unpublished photos of the Beatles and never-seen-before documents.

The Beatles Are Coming! is the most thorough and accurate book ever published on how Beatlemania evolved in America. It details why Capitol Records turned the group down four times before finally agreeing in late November, 1963, to release the Beatles records. It tells the stories of two small record labels, Vee-Jay and Swan, who issued the group's records without success in 1963. It details the American media coverage of the Beatles in late 1963, when Beatlemania was viewed as a curious fad happening in England that could never catch on in the United States. It explains how the Beatles were booked for appearances on The Jack Paar Program and The Ed Sullivan Show, as well as two concerts at Carnegie Hall. The book concludes with stories and pictures of the Beatles historic first U.S. visit in February, 1964.

In researching the project, the author reviewed hundreds of documents, magazines, and pictures as well as television news stories from 1963 and 1964. His interview subjects included influential newsmen such as Walter Cronkite, who wrote the foreword ot the book, and Edwin Newman, staff members of The Ed Sullivan Show, former president of Capitol Records Alan Livingston, employees of Carnegie Hall and numerous others with first-hand memories.

"Let It Be... NAKED" The Beatles (Audio CD) 2 Discs

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

At last revealed -
The Beatles album that has taken more than 30 years to finish, "Let It Be...Naked," just the bare sound of the band inside The Beatles.

"Let It Be...Naked" is the no frills, back-to-basics album that The Beatles first set out to make back in 1969 - but which was never released as they intended, the band back to the bone.

Now, through the smart digital technology of Abbey Road studios, the never-heard band's take of the original sessions will be finally released worldwide by EMI Records in November.

Naked is "Let It Be" brought right up to now for the "1 Generation," de-mixed and re-mixed, un-dubbed of orchestration, choirs and effects and stripped-back to the raw to reveal The Beatles simply as what they were very best at being just a great band.

"If we'd have had today's technology back then, it would sound like this because this is the noise we made in the studio," said Paul McCartney "It's all exactly as it was in the room. You're right there now."

"When I first heard it, it was really uplifting. It took you back again to the times when we were this band, the Beatle band," said
Ringo Starr.

When The Beatles first set out to make the album in 1969, they intended to record an album that would be a return to live performance of just the bare necessities of the band, no studio effects or overdubbing of voices or instruments would be allowed. However, caught in the turmoil of the break-up of the band, the album was re-produced by Phil Spector and never released as The Beatles had originally meant it to sound. Until now.

"Let It Be...Naked's" track listing differs from the 1970 release; background dialogue, "Dig It" and "Maggie Mae" have been taken off the album and "Don't Let Me Down" has been added to the running order, which now is as follows: "Get Back," "Dig A Pony," "For You Blue," "The Long And Winding Road," "Two Of Us," "I've Got A Feeling," "One After 909," "Don't Let Me Down," "I Me Mine," "Across The Universe," "Let It Be."

"Let It Be...Naked" will be issued together with a bonus fly-on-the-wall disc that features extracts from tapes of The Beatles at the time of first making the "Let It Be" album and movie in the Sixties.

The 20-minute bonus disc is a unique insight into of The Beatles at work in rehearsal and in the studios in January 1969.

"Let It Be...Naked" will also come with a booklet that features historic photography of the recording sessions and extracts of band dialogue from the original booklet that first accompanied early copies of the 1970 album.

Released worldwide from November 17th, (November 18th in the US) "Let It Be...Naked" is the sound of The Beatles as nature intended; raw and rocking.

DVD Features:

* Includes shows from February 9, February 16, and February 23, 1964, and September 12, 1965
* Restored original mono or Dolby 5.1
* Full-screen format
* Number of discs: 2

A great concept:
The Beatles appeared four times on CBS' The Ed Sullivan Show, and while one is tempted to skip through this collection to watch only the Fab Four's 20 performances, there is historic value in seeing Sullivan's complete programs. With America reeling from the murder of a popular president, JFK, less than three months prior, the Beatles' Sullivan debut on February 9, 1964, ushered a renewing joy into the country's living rooms. The band kept it up another two weeks, sharing Sullivan's variety-show bills with the likes of impressionist Frank Gorshin, comedians Allen & Rossi, future Monkee Davy Jones (in a scene from Oliver!), and sundry unrepentant vaudevillians, magicians, and acrobats. Various problems with microphones and bad direction (one barely sees John Lennon on 2/9) couldn't stop the magic, and by the time the Beatles made a return trip in September 1965, the group's brilliance and wit outsized their television surrounding.

Run Time: 155 minutes
Black & White

As if there were any doubt, this February 11, 1964 show (just days after their triumphant debut on Ed Sullivan's TV show) proves that the
Beatles were one rockin' little combo, whatever the situation. The sound was awful, the din of the audience almost constant. Also, the concert set-up was in-the-round--but only Ringo Starr's rickety little drum riser could rotate, so during several songs the other three Fabs were obliged to turn their backs on their own amps to face the rest of the audience! No matter; they roar through their eight-tune set with palpable, irresistible energy--just check out "I Saw Her Standing There." Sure, the black-and-white footage is grainy, and the audio's lousy. But this document of the group at their early peak is a must-have for true believers. Considerable file footage and audio clips from the period help fill out both the concert program and an accompanying trivia quiz

"Two Us" starring Adian Quinn and Jared Harris (DVD-US & Canada)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

Since many movie depictions of famous figures are cringe-worthy, it is pleasant to report that Two of Us creates a smart, informed, and intimate portrait of two music gods.

This made-for-TV feature is a fictional speculation about a day in 1976 when
Paul McCartney popped into John Lennon's New York apartment by surprise. With Yoko away on business, it's just the two giants spending a day together--bickering, goofing, toking, and eventually coming to a bittersweet reconciliation.

There are awkward TV-movie moments, and some psychobabble, but the film respects its characters too much to round them off into simpletons. Director Michael Lindsay-Hogg made Let It Be, so he could draw on first-hand experience, and Jared Harris and Aidan Quinn are totally committed to their roles.

"Ticket to Ride" by Larry Kane. (Book with bonus audio CD)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

It was 40 years ago today--more or less--that a 22-year-old broadcast journalist from Florida was invited by manager Brian Epstein to travel with The Beatles to every stop on their first North American tours. The only American reporter in the official press party, Larry Kane obtained exclusive, revealing interviews with John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Fortunately, Kane saved his original notes and tapes, and shares them here for the first time. That material provides the basis for his intimate look back at the phenomenon of the Fab Four, and insights into the humor and personality of each group member. Ticket to Ride, illustrated with more than 30 photographs, captures a rare time in history, gracefully melding the story of the Beatles revolution with the changing tenor of the country. Hear John Lennon's early public criticism of the Vietnam War, and learn about the night the Beatles met Bob Dylan. "We had a crazy party the night we met [Dylan]," Paul recounts. " I thought I got the meaning to life that night." Ticket to Ride includes a 60-minute audio CD featuring rare interviews.

The broadcast journalism career of Emmy Award winner Larry Kane has spanned more than 45 years, including anchor positions at all three of Philadelphia's network television affiliates and a stint with the ABC-TV network in New York City.

"Revolution in the Head: The Beatles Records and the Sixties" by Ian MacDonald (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

Updated to include material from "The Beatles Live at the BBC" and the "Anthology" series, this book goes to the heart of "The Beatles" - their records. Ian MacDonald reads their 241 tracks chronologically, from their first amateur efforts in 1957, to "Real Love" in 1995.

Comment from a reader about the book:

Having read tons of books and column inches about the Fab Four, I can honestly say that this book was a real breath of fresh air. It is a thoroughly interesting an entertaining read for anyone with the slightest interest in the Beatles. The introductory essay about the sixties helps to put the Beatles firmly into context, but the real pleasure comes from McDonald's analysis of the Beatles songs.

"Beatles for Sale: The Musical Secrets of the Greatest Rock 'n' roll Band of All Time" by David Rowley (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

Find out the tricks
The Beatles used in the studio, their songwriting formulas, the music they stole from others and the commercial compromises they made to get hit singles. This volume also aims to get behind the personalities of the fab four. Find out what songs should have been McCartney/Lennon rather than Lennon/McCartney, about their inter-band rivalries and how John Lennon and Paul McCartney sidelined George Harrison's songwriting.

Marketed as cynically as any boy band of today, the Beatles may be the most extraordinary music phenomenon of the last century-but not everything is known about their songs. Here, for the first time, their songwriting and recording secrets are disclosed: their studio tricks, their songwriting formulas, the music they "stole" from others, and the commercial compromises they made to achieve hit status. Including a chronological survey that reveals something new about every song released, "Beatles for Sale" may be the most informative and frank account of their music ever written.

Journalist David Rowley writes for numerous publications, including The Guardian, Time Out and the Independent on Sunday.

"The Beatles Gear" by Andy Babiuk (Book)

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

Babiuk takes a unique approach to the Beatles' story by documenting the history of their music equipment.
The Beatles are forever associated with particular instruments, and thoughts of them immediately conjure images of John's Rickenbacker, George's large, hollow-bodied Gretch, Paul's signature custom Hofner violin bass (the first left-handed bass the company ever produced), and Ringo on a Ludwig drum kit.

Babiuk begins with Lennon's first guitar in 1956 and follows through to the band's final 1969 sessions at the Abbey Road studios. As he shows, their choice of instruments were outlets for their personalities and creativity, and they selected a particular make and model for its individual sound, used that sound to its fullest, and then progressed to the next. Though dubbed "the quiet one," Harrison proved the maverick, continually experimenting with guitars and instruments from other nationalities, leading to the important Eastern influence on the Beatles' music.

Babiuk provides marvelous technical detail on all of the Fab Four's gear, with numerous photos of either their own instruments or identical models. A fresh perspective on the group's well-documented history will appeal to hardcore fans and interested lay readers alike.

"The Beatles: The True Beginnings" by Pete Best, Roag Best

CLICK LINK TO ORDER !!!

The Casbah Coffee Club, which opened in Liverpool on August 29, 1959, was the brainchild of Mona Best, the mother of Pete Best. It is well known that Pete Best was the drummer for The Beatles in their early days in Liverpool and Hamburg. But less well known is that The Beatles' origins were in fact at Pete's mother's club-it was at the Casbah and with Mona Best's blessing that the greatest popular music phenomenon of the twentieth century began.

And now, the basement club where The Quarrymen, The Silver Beatles, and finally The Beatles played over 90 times before they hit the Cavern has been reopened and revealed by this remarkable new book. The Casbah's significance cannot be overestimated-it brought together some of the greatest names in rock music and became the catalyst for the Mersey Beat phenomenon that swept Liverpool in the early 1960s.

Seen here for the first time in forty years is the basement's interior as it was at the very beginning, juxtaposed with the rooms as they are today, where the ceilings painted by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best still rest. A wealth of rare material from the club and the Bests' own archives, together with newly-commissioned images by renowned photographer Sandro Sodano, documents the club's and The Beatles' intertwined stories.

The Beatles: The True Beginnings also features accounts from early fans hearing the Beatles for the first time. Stunning new color photography of the rooms and memorabilia of the Casbah Coffee Club. Gritty, never-before seen photos of the young Beatles playing for hundreds of of their very first fans. And comments from the Beatles and their closest friends from the period.

Accompanied by a fascinating personal memoir of this extraordinary time, written by Roag Best with his brothers Pete and Rory, this is both a moving family tribute and a unique insight into a remarkable period of Beatles history. The glory of the Casbah has hidden for almost half a century in the Best family's basement rooms. This account of their earliest days promises to blow back its roof, and that of the Beatles' unbelievable history, forever.
