Pat Williams: Designer & Weaver of Tapestries

The Last Grasp. (c) 2007. 47 3/8”W x 18 1/2”H. The woman is trying to learn about aging from the flower (common metaphor for the stages of a woman’s life). The flower is jumping or flinging itself out of the vase. Is it a jump for freedom; a protest of being cut and put in a vase, idiocy? The woman considers the flower's dilemma and watches to see what will happen.

The Last Grasp is included in Green: the Color and the Cause, on view at the Textile Museum in Washington, DC, http://www.textilemuseum.org/ April 16-September 11, 2011: This is an international exhibition of contemporary textiles honoring efforts for the environmental movement.
