In September of 2005, Rick and Gail Lawrenson, Tricia’s in-laws, established the Patricia S. Lawrenson Trust Fund in Tricia’s name for the sole benefit of helping with her medical expenses. 

    The challenges that Tricia faces because of CF include the obvious physical hardships, but also the financial burdens that come with the treatment.  Tricia has medical insurance, but it does not cover 100% of her medical expenses.  Beyond the expensive medications, a typical year for her includes at least two extended hospital stays at Duke University Medical Center.  These out of pocket expenses total into the thousands of dollars each year.  This trust fund helps alleviate the financial concerns that mounting medical bills can cause.  Many people have helped Tricia in the past, and this trust fund provides a way to funnel the funds into an account that will help pay those yearly out-of-pocket expenses.

    A trust fund is an account set up to assure that monies given to Tricia are protected from creditors and from being taxed as income against her.  Also, this account will already be in place when fund raising needs to take place to cover the expenses of a double lung transplant, which is no doubt in Tricia’s future.  Specific guidelines are in place to make sure this trust fund is only for Tricia’s medical benefit.  The trustees for this account will be Agnes Kirschner (Tricia’s mother) and Gail Lawrenson (Tricia’s mother-in-law).  Misha Lawrenson (Tricia's aunt) is the accountant.  All monies will be deposited by Misha, who will also give an annual accounting for the trust.

    We are looking for 65 people who can give a donation of $65 or more and become part of Tricia’s “Rose Garden”.  It is our hope and prayer that you might be able to join us in helping Tricia and Nathan by participating with a donation to 65 Roses 4 Patty Sue (The Patricia S.
