Top Billing
Pretend you are a boat. What color would you be? Would you have racing stripes or be old and unpainted? Would you be a fishing vessel, a pirate ship? Go ahead, close your eyes and picture it. Give this ship whatever you want but it has to have two things. The first thing required is a mode of movement: oars, sails, motor, anything that moves the boat forward.
Now fill the sails, gun the motor, or do whatever it is that moves your boat forward. Picture moving through the water quickly. Now comes the second required item. Slow the boat and drop an anchor. Make sure the anchor gets good and set in the ground. Now fill the sails, paddle, or whatever again. Are you moving?
Nope, the anchor’s down.
As a child of God, you are like that boat.
Certain scriptures or concepts have never quite gotten you moving not because they lack power but because, in those areas, you have not yet lifted the anchor. You hit a point in your life where you’re just not moving like you used to. You try scripture, you try prayer, fellowship, dutiful obedience (”acting your way into feeling”), but nothing seems to help.
You decide you’re not trying hard enough so you paddle harder. Still you don’t move. Then you’re told to “Let go and let God.” Now you’re not so tired, but you’re still not moving. Why? Because the true problem has not yet been addressed. The means of propulsion is not at fault, your own effort is not at fault, certainly God is not at fault (although you’re beginning to wonder). No, the anchor is the problem. In the Christian life, deception is that anchor.
Anchors Away is a ministry devoted to helping people lift those anchors by building faith in God’s truth.
The Mission
To equip people to recognize deception and replace that deception with truth.
The Heartbeat
To see people freed up to enjoy God and love others as God has designed and called them.
The Strategy
To provide as many types of excellent resources as possible to multiply these principles as far as God desires all across His church.
