What We’re Up To

Welcome back to school!  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!

This month we are learning about school.  This includes getting to know our new friends and teachers, learning classroom and school procedures, and learning how to take care of our own belongings.  We will also focus on the color yellow, our color of the month.  When your child wears yellow to school we will make a big deal of it, so encourage them to wear the color of the month.  We will begin working on the letters of the alphabet. Watch for emails letting you know which letters/sounds we’re working on.

Announcements

The School Supply List is on the left side of this page.  Please bring all items by the first day of school (you may also bring them on the 22nd between 11 AM and 1 PM during Meet the Teacher time).  We will periodically request additional items as we run out.

Please be aware that we do a lot of painting, water play, gluing and generally messy stuff. Please dress your children appropriately for these activities and expect something fun and messy to happen every day.

We really emphasize your child’s independence – being able to take care of their belongings and such.  Dressing your children in clothing they can put on and off ALL BY THEMSELVES (for going potty) increases their self-esteem and confidence.  Please be aware of your child’s ability to fasten their clothing (buttons, snaps, ties, etc.) and dress them in clothing they can take off and put on independently.  Girls should wear shorts under their dresses/skirts.  Thanks!

If you are dropping off your child in the morning, please bring them to the classroom between 7:35 and 7:45 AM.  This is equally important for both the PPCD students AND the peer volunteers.  When a child arrives late it is both disruptive to the class and the arriving child.  We appreciate your support with this.

Breakfast is available in the cafeteria before school starts.  In our experience all children LOVE eating breakfast with mom or dad in the cafeteria.  Please bring them to the classroom when they’ve finished eating.

We look forward to a great year!!!!
