This is my personal “Joy Ride in a Paint Box” . I hope you will take the journey with me.

Looking back, I realize that this journey actually started when I was about seven years old. I would illustrate in watercolour, stories I read. My uncle Carl thought this showed very great talent, and though for a while I basked in the praise of such a clever architect, I moved on to other things, and except for some oils saved by my father, none of those paintings survived.

The Journey took a long hiatus, and started again some years ago, when I decided to quit working outside the home, to raise my son. It was the best decision I could have made, to start painting again.

I painted everything, landscapes, abstracts, still life, and in every medium, watercolour, pastels, inks, and combinations of all of them. I painted walls, floors, furniture,  fabric, paper, any surface that did not move, and indeed made a name for myself, both in print media and on television.

Recently I decided to focus on the subject matter that gave me the deepest satisfaction: painting food.....painting it in my own particular style, part realism, part abstract, and in colours and textures, that would enliven the spirit of the viewer.

The following pages will provide some insight  and clarification  of the paintings, as well as expand on my artist’s statement. I will try to include some information about technique, and there will always be something literary, written by me, or from a writer I admire, that will give some added dimension to the paintings..

I have also included a new series of short stories written by me for your entertainment....from time to time new stories will be added.

Since I paint food, I  think it natural to provide for those who both cook as well as paint, something exciting to make at the end of a painting day.

So I created The Art of Food...it’s all part of the same journey.
