Prairies, wilderness, nature, wildlife photography and more!
I am a photographer, writer, and photography teacher
currently based in Val Marie, Saskatchewan, Canada.
I’m the author of Wild Prairie: A
Photographer’s Personal Journey, published
by Greystone Books (Vancouver, BC). My
photos have appeared in many magazines,
books, calendars, etc., including Photo Life,
Explore, Popular Photography, Prairies North,
Canadian Geographic, NatureCanada, The
Toronto Star, and others. I have taught
extensively, and frequently run photo
workshops in Saskatchewan and British
Columbia.
It’s strange and seemingly paradoxical, but the best photos use light reflected off surfaces to go beneath the surface and reveal something essential about the subject. And about the photographer.
When you learn to combine technical expertise with
creative vision, the different processes involved - logical,
linear functioning and the quantum leaps that signify
real creativity - become integrated into a smooth
internal workflow. It becomes easy.
And that’s when the fun begins.
