The picture above shows Lima’s Public Square in about the year 1865. Throughout the midwest, many towns developed around two primary intersecting streets - one running north and south, the other running east and west. As towns grew, additional streets were added that ran parallel to the two primary intersecting routes. Many towns have a street called “Main Street.” How do you think “Market Street” got its name? What was the weather like when this picture was taken?
