The MOM grocery store, that is. It is Mother’s Day and I love my mom, but I need to talk about the My Organic Market store that just opened on Buckeystown Pike in Frederick for a quick second. I love Whole Foods, but see this entry. Now I will be making fewer trips to Whole Foods in Gaithersburg  and save $ on gas! Common Market just didn’t do it for me, but MOM seems to be great. It’s a relatively small store, but it offers a lot at prices that won’t make you feel like you’ve been robbed.  Great coffee beans and organic peanut butter (just peanuts and salt), check. Soy yogurt, check. Oh, the Silk soy yogurt made a brief appearance at Giant, then disappeared. I guess the product wasn’t a hit there. Anyway, glad I can get it at MOM. The kicker is the valet service. Yup, valet. A nice person offering insisting to take my bags to my car? No tip expected, just a courtesy? It’s very refreshing! I love that they don’t discriminate based on number of bags or size of purchase. If you went to buy a bell pepper, you might get someone to take it to the car for you. If someone has had this experience, let me know :-) I’m still waiting to see how long this is going to last. I hope this is not just a grand opening tactic because it’s a wonderful distinguishing feature. It’s a bit weird having lived in a city where they don’t even bag your groceries for you. This is a very nice addition to the city.

I love MOM!
