AP Latin Literature

This level 2 AP Latin course is open to students who have successfully completed AP Latin: Vergil.  The curriculum established by the College Board includes the Lesbia cycle of Catullus and an extended excerpt from his epyllion, poem 64.  The Ovidian works include the famous “Militat omnis amans” poem and other elegies from the Amores plus the stories of Apollo and Daphne, Pyramus and Thisbe, and Daedalus and Icarus from the Metamorphoses.  Occasional readings in Horace and exercises in meter and verse composition will supplement the study of Catullus and Ovid. The goal of this course is that the senior Latin student will be able to read, translate, and analyze Latin poetry with a very high level of sophistication.
