Zen Margaritas

I have made hundreds of blender pitchers of these bad boys.  I call them “Zen Margaritas” because after a few drinks you sit around and go “Ommmmm...”!  You use the limade can to measure portions.

1. •1 small can limeade
   

2. •3/4 can tequila
   

3. •1/4 can triple sec
   

4. •1/2 can water (aids in the blending)
   
   

    Pour items into blender and fill with ice.  Blend well and serve.
    For subsequent batches, use a full can of tequila!!

Note:  I know that when you sit zazen, you don’t go “Ommmm...”, but the name “Hare-krisna Margaritas” just isn’t the same!  Don’t quibble!

Cuba Libre’  - The official boat drink of Implied Consent!

1. •Rum
   

2. •Coke
   

3. •Lime
   

   

    Serve over ice.

    Mix...drink...repeat

Cuban Missile Crisis

1. •Bacardi 151 Rum
   

2. •Coke

Crazy 8's

Equal parts of:

1. •V-8 Splash Tropical Blend and
   

2. •Parrot Bay Coconut Rum
   
   

    Serve over ice.

    You can't taste the alcohol even up to a 1:3 ratio.

    It's easy to premix and freeze for long cruises, and gives the
    ultimate sustainable buzz!

The Love Shack

Reputed to be the best boat drink ever.

1. •1.5 oz rum (Captain Morgan's Dark is best)
   

2. •0.75 oz Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur
   

3. •0.75 oz Lime Juice
   

4. •fill with ginger beer
   
   

    Serve over ice

The Jade Monkey

"Jade" because of the colour, "monkey" because it sounded cool.

Pour over ice:

1. •1.5 oz white rum
   

2. •0.75 oz blue curaco
   

3. •0.5 oz Lime Juice
   

    Fill with pineapple juice until the colour turns brillant green.
    Add a bit more blue curaco if it gets too yellow.
    Add a bit more lime juice if you find it too sweet.

Key West Song

1. •1 1/4 oz spiced rum
   

2. •1 oz cream of coconut
   

3. •2 oz orange juice
   
   

    Blend all ingredients in a blender with a scoop of crushed ice

Tequila Sunrise

1. •1 1/2 oz tequila
   

2. •1/2 oz grenadine
   

3. •4 oz orange juice
   
   

    Fill a highball glass with ice.  Add tequila and fill with orange juice.
    Slowly pour in grenadine and let it settle. 
    Before serving, stir very gently to create the “sunrise” effect.

Sex on the Beach

1. •3/4 oz vodka
   

2. •3/4 oz amaretto
   

3. •3/4 oz orange juice
   

4. •1/4 oz cranberry juice
   

5. •1/2 oz peach schnapps
   
   

    Fill a tall glass with ice.  Pour in ingredients except schnapps. 
    Mix, then float schnapps.

Tom Collins

1. •1 1/2 oz gin
   

2. •1 teaspoon powdered sugar
   

3. •1 tablespoon lemon juice
   

4. •1 slice orange
   

5. •1 maraschino cherry
   

6. •club soda
   
   

    In a shaker, add lemon juice, powdered sugar, and gin. 
    Cover and shake.  Pour into Collins glass filled with ice cubes,
    fill with club soda and stir.  Garnish with the fruit.  Serve with straw.

Fuzzy Navel

1. •3 oz peach schnapps
   

2. •3 oz orange juice
   
   

    Combine ingredients and pour over ice in a tall glass. 
    Garnish with orange slice.

Alabama Slammer

pronounced “alabama slamma”

1. •1 oz sloe gin
   

2. •1 oz Southern Comfort
   

3. •3 oz orange juice
   

4. •1 oz amareto
   
   

    Fill a shaker wth crushed ice.  Add ingredients and shake well. 
    Strain into shot glasses

Screwdriver

1. •2 oz vodka
   

2. •4 oz orange juice
   
   

    Pour vodka and orange joice into a highball glass.  Add ice and stir.

Singapore Sling

1. •1 oz gin
   

2. •2 oz sour mix, bottled
   

3. •1/2 oz grenadine
   

4. •1 dash cherry brandy
   

5. •4 oz club soda
   
   

    Fill a shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into a Collins glass
    filled with ice.  Fill with club soda and top with cherry brandy.

Three Wise Men

1. •1 oz scotch
   

2. •1 oz bourbon
   

3. •1 oz Jack Daniels
   
   

    Shake with ice and strain into a shot glass.

Hurricane Jane

1. • 1/4 oz Light Rum
   

2. •1/4 oz Gin
   

3. •1/4 oz Vodka
   

4. •1/4 oz Tequila
   

5. •1/4 oz Blue Curacao
   

6. •1 dash Cherry Brandy
   

7. •3 oz Sour Mix
   

8. •3 oz Orange Juice
   

9. • Ice
   
   

    Pour over ice into hurricane glass and stir well.
    Garnish with an orange wheel.

Banana Cow

1. •1 oz light rum
   

2. •1 oz Creme de Banana
   

3. •1 1/2 oz cream
   

4. •1 dash grenadine
   

5. •Crushed Ice
   
   

    Shake with ice and strain into a glass.  Top with a slice of banana
     and sprinkle lightly with nutmeg.

Caribbean Lover

1. •1 1/2 oz Light Rum
   

2. •1 oz Amaretto
   

3. •2 oz Pineapple Juice
   

4. •2 oz Orange Juice
   

5. •1 splash Grenadine
   

6. •Ice
   
   

    Shake well with ice and pour into a glass. Float grenadine on top.
    Add a slice of orange and a slice of pineapple on top.

Koala Bear

1. •Kaluha

    Shake well with ice and strain into a glass

Here are some favorites from the BVIs:

Painkiller

(Pusser's Painkiller) - THE drink of the Virgin Islands.

1. •4 parts pineapple juice
   

2. •1 parts orange juice
   

3. •1 part cream of coconut
   

4. •Pusser's Rum to taste (about 2 to 4 parts)
   

5. •Lightly sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg
   

    Serve over crushed ice. The freshly grated nutmeg is essential.

    We use plastic gallon water jugs to make them, which works out to
    about a bottle of rum, a BIG can (46 oz.) of pineapple juice,
    half of a large can of OJ, and 1 large can of Coco-Lopez.
    This mixes up just under a gallon.  Remember, though, there really
    is no substitute for Pusser's rum in a painkiller. This, like other
    island drinks is properly served only in a disposable plastic cup.

Turbo Painkiller

A martini that tastes like a painkiller.

1. •2 parts Pineapple Rum (Cruzan makes a good one, or Malibu Pineapple)
   

2. •2 parts Coconut Rum (Cruzan Pineapple, Bacardi Coco, Capt. Morgan Parrot Bay, Malibu, etc.)
   

3. •1 part Grand Marnier (can substitute Triple Sec or Cointreau)
   

4. •Fresh nutmeg (optional, but highly desirable!)
   

    Fill martini glasses with cold ice and let sit for 5 minutes to thoroughly

    chill glasses. Fill shaker 1/2 full with cold ice. Add liquors and shake

    thoroughly to chill. Dump ice from glasses and quickly strain martinis

    into them.  Lightly grate fresh nutmeg on top and serve immediately.

    This island drink should NOT be served in a disposable plastic cup!

Anegada "Smoodies"

1. •24 oz. (2 12 oz. cans) guava nectar
   

2. •6 oz pineapple juice (a small can)
   

3. •3 oz cream of coconut
   

    Mix the above ingredients. Fill a cup with ice, then pour about 1/2

    to 2/3 full of your favorite rum -- preferably a dark rum. Fill with the

    smoodie mix, then grate fresh nutmeg over the top. This, like other

    island drinks is properly served only in a disposable plastic cup

Bushwacker

1. •Bailey's Irish Cream
   

2. •Amaretto
   

3. •Kahlua
   

4. •Vodka
   

5. •Grand Marnier
   

6. •Lots of ice
   

7. •Freshly grated nutmeg
   

    Fill blender 3/4 full with ice.  Add a small splash of vodka, and a

    small splash of Grand Marnier, a healthy serving of Kahlua, and a

    slightly less healthy splash of amaretto. Fill with Bailey's until ice is

    almost covered.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into hurricane glasses and

    grate fresh nutmeg on top.

Original Pusser's Painkiller

1. •4 parts pineapple juice
   

2. •2 parts Pusser's Rum
   

3. •1 part cream of coconut
   

4. •1 part orange juice served
   

5. 
   

6. Blender juices and cream of coconut.
   

7. Add ice and 2, 3, or 4 shots of rum to a mug depending on mood,
   

8. pour blended mixture over ice and rum
   

9. shake some nutmeg on top.
   

Painless Painkiller

(requires no measuring. These have a little more coconut so they're smoother but also a little more filling)

1. •pour 1 15oz can of Cream of Coconut (Coco Lopez) in your blender
   

2. •Fill the rest of the blender with Dole Pineapple-Orange Juice
   

3. •Blend
   

4. •Put 2 shots of rum into a 16oz glass or mug with two ice cubes
   

5. •Pour the blended mix over the rum
   

6. •Forget the nutmeg
   

7. •Repeat as needed.
   

Havana Cocktail

1. •- 1 oz Light Rum
   

2. •- 1 oz Pineaple Juice
   

3. •- 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
   
   

4. Shake rum, lime juice, and grenadine in shaker with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
   

Cuban Breeze

1. •2 parts Mojito Club
   

2. •1 part light rum
   

3. •1/2 part Grapefruit Juice
   

4. •1/2 part Cranberry Juice
   

5. •6 mint leaves
   
   

6. Muddle mint in a mixing glass. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake with ice. Pour into a rocks glass and garnish with mint sprig.
   

Hurricane

1. •2 oz light rum
   

2. •2 oz dark rum
   

3. •2 oz passion fruit juice
   

4. •1 oz orange juice
   

5. •1/2 oz fresh lime juice
   

6. •1 tbsp simple syrup
   

7. •1 tbsp grenadine
   

8. •Garnish: orange slice and cherry
   
   

9. Shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a hurricane glass. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice.
   

Witch Doctor

1. •1 oz Malibu coconut rum
   

2. •1 oz reposado tequila
   

3. •2 oz pineapple juice
   

4. •1 oz orange juice
   

5. •1 oz meyer's lemon juice
   

Zombie

1. •1 oz Light Rum
   

2. •1 oz Anejo Rum
   

3. •1/4 oz 151 Proof Rum
   

4. •1/2 oz Apricot Brandy
   

5. •1 oz Pineapple Juice
   

6. •1 oz Lime Juice
   

7. •2 oz Orange Juice
   

8. •1 cup Crushed Ice
   

9. •1 tsp Superfine Sugar
   

10. 
    

11. Blend all the ingredients at low speed in blender and strai into collins glass. Garnish with the fruits and mint sprig. Serve with a straw.
    

Between the Sheets

1. •1 oz light rum
   

2. •1 oz brandy
   

3. •1/4 oz triple sec
   

4. •1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
   

5. •1/4 oz simple syrup
   

6. 
   

7. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with orange spiral.
   

Firefly

1. •2 parts Tommy Bahama White Sand Rum
   

2. •1 part V.S.O.P. Cognac
   

3. •1 tsp lemon juice
   

4. •1 tsp grenadine
   

1. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Float thin lemon wheel.
   

Salty Dog

1. •2 oz vodka
   

2. •5 oz grapefruit juice
   

3. •salt rimming
   
   

4. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a salt rimmed martini glass and garnish with lime wedge.
