I suppose it’s hard to do a credible review of a Japanese/Korean restaurant without having tried the sushi or bulgogi, but here goes.  For Dhaka, Samdado is one fine Japanese/Korean restaurant.  Three rickshaws fine, in fact.  The ambience was very un-Dhaka like, the service was great, and the food pretty good.  You have to like a place which brings four free appetizers, - spicy cucumber, slaw, saucy soybeans, and soup.  I had the tofu bento box, and Aleta, the udon tempura.  My only quibble

Now that I’ve retired again, it’s up to Aleta to shoulder the family responsibility for conducting fraud investigations.  Last week, she went on an overnight trip to Sunamganj, yet another village located smack dab in the middle of nowhere, this time very north north east of Dhaka, in Sylhet Division.  It is one of the wettest places in Bangladesh, known for its birdwatching. Latest Liveability Rankings

When we last checked in, Dhaka was 139th out of 140 cities on the Forbes Magazine rankings of the world’s most liveable cities, barely beating out Harare.  Well, a lot has happened here in the last year - Bangladesh has had free and fair elections, with a peaceful transition from a caretaker government to democratic rule; an armed uniformed rebellion was put down; and Bangladesh beat both Macao and Cambodia in soccer, for their first international victories in three years.  All of these

The movers were here yesterday to survey our stuff for next week’s packout and we have our confirmed flight reservations, seat assignments, and special meals.  This time we’re all traveling together to the same locales, but not spending too much time in one place.  Herewith, our summer whereabouts.
