Sylhet. Sylhet, Bangladesh. Located in northeastern part of the country, Sylhet is known primarily for its tea estates and heroically decorated gas stations. Sylhet fancies itself a competitor with Chittagong for the prestigious title of “Bangladesh’s Second City”, but according to most accounts (Aleta’s), falls short. Aleta arrived during the beginning of Ramadan, and her stay was made all the more pleasant by the free iftar provided by the hotel. While there was no swimming pool in the lobby, the hotel was clean, comfortable and had CNN on cable. lk
