My interests tend to orbit around concerns of the natural world, art history, memory and perception.
The walled garden at Outpost is reminiscent of historical paradise gardens, which I have come to understand as a site of utopian desire, longing for paradise or perfection,a lush and verdant oasis from the harsh exterior conditions.
This installation takes place in the freezing snowdrifts of winter, the seasonal opposite of this particular site of desire.  I have made sculptural plants and flowers out of wire, glue and paper, protected by glass cloches, which are vague references to the wunderkammern or cabinet of curiosities, with its objects that offer strangeness and “otherness” cloistered into vitrines for safekeeping and scrutinization.
The paperwork consists of the remnant from which the elements of “Winter Savory” have been cut.  the plants, herbs and flowers all have historical meaning such as charity, lust, greed, mystery, and on and on.  This current and ongoing body of work will involve me with poetic ideas of desire, negation and hope    Amandahamiltonart.com
