Our first year of meeting at Munnell Run Farm went very well. At every meeting we saw new and old members come and join our little group for an afternoon of sharing skills and passing on old traditions. With a poor economy and job loss increasing, in 2009 more folks may want to learn traditional crafts to make garments for their family and perhaps bring in a little extra income. Twila Armitage one of our founders passed away in 2008. Twila spent her retirement years passing on many of her skills to us . I am asking our members to remember Twila and to continue passing these skills on and keep spinning and weaving alive in W. PA.
Dues for 2009 will be a free membership year. We ask instead that you donate to Munnell Run Farm at each meeting to build bathrooms.

Spinning and Knitting Meetings
March, May, July, September & November
It is our custom to have an informal spinning meeting every other month on the second Thursday and a program or workshop at Saturday meetings.
On our Thursday meetings bring your spinning wheel, spindle, knitting or other needle craft to work on. Bring your lunch and plan on having a peaceful day at the farm to get some work done on a project that you may need help with. You need not come for the whole day. You can stop by for a short visit if you wish.
Some of us enjoy an excuse to get away from all the work that needs to be done and take a day off to relax at the farm. It is a beautiful, quiet and peaceful place to spend an afternoon.
We welcome anyone who wants to learn about spinning weaving or knitting to join us. There is always someone among us that has the answers to most of the problems that are brought to us. We are always interested in meeting new people and enjoy teaching and passing on skills to all ages. If you are new to the fiber arts all we ask is that you are willing to work and devote the time needed to learn a skill
Friday May 1, Car Pool to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival held every year the first week end in May Check our web blog or email me for info.
Weaving Workshop 101 Saturday April 11 & June 13 This will be the first of a two part workshop on weaving this year at Munnell Run Farm. The first part will be about planning for weaving and getting the loom warped. The second part will be at the June meeting when we will discuss finishing weaving techniques and problem solving.
Bring a small loom that needs to be warped along if you have one and we will help you get it ready to weave. You can also just come and watch Nancy warp her loom or get help planning your next weaving project for your big loom at home
