Our Guild News
Spinning, Weaving & Knitting together in friendship since 1975

It has been the custom of the Mercer County Spinners and Weavers Guild to meet informally on Thursdays every other month. Meetings will be  at Munnell Run Farm except for our annual fall Natural Dye Workshop.  For driving direction to Munnell Run Farm try this web site for info:   http://www.munnellrunfarm.org/

Bring your spinning wheel, spindle,  knitting or other needle craft to work on.   Bring your lunch and  plan on having a peaceful day at the farm to get some work done on a project that you may need help with. Meetings begin at 10:00 AM and go till 2:00 PM   You need not come for the whole day. You can stop by and visit and spend whatever time you may have with us.

We enjoy an excuse to get away from all our work that needs to be done at home and take a day off to relax at the farm. It is a beautiful, quiet and peaceful place to spend an afternoon.

We welcome anyone who wants to learn about spinning, weaving or knitting to join us.  There is always someone among us that has the answers to most of the problems that are brought to us.  We are always interested in meeting new people and enjoy teaching and passing on skills to all ages. If you are new to the fiber arts all we ask is that you are willing to  devote the time needed to learn a skill

This is a great opportunity to go thru your stash and get organized.  Pick up the materials you need and get rid of the left overs you are never going to use.  Bring your UFOs for show and tell.  Lets inspire each other to finish up or frog the project.  There will be fibers and yarn for sell.  Free patterns, magazines and books for trading.  Bring  stuff you are tired of and get something new.  One persons trash is sometimes another’s  treasure.

Planning Projects Workshop  Saturday  October 10,  2009
Inspiring and encouraging each other in our craft is one of the reasons we meet. Lets help each other set some goals. Nancy Griffin will lead this workshop. Free Workshop
Bring a variety of yarn and materials, patterns and books that you may want to use for your next project. We will brainstorm together to help each other plan future projects. Bring fibers dyed on Natural Dye Day for show and tell. As always bring your lunch and a guest. This is a perfect time to introduce new fiber folks to our group. Help keep the knowledge and wisdom we have of spinning and weaving growing and passing to the next generation. If everyone just brings one guest this should be a very interesting meeting for us all.
