This is the domain known as ‘other than’. These are the words used to best translate the Hebrew word for ‘holy’ into English. Holy is not about being pious or self-righteous or perfect. It simply means ‘set apart’, which is better expressed through the phrase...’other than’. I must be other than this ‘world’. This world’s philosophy hinges on the phrase ‘it’s all about me’. I believe my calling as one who follows Christ is to counter this with an opposite philosophy... ‘not my will, but Yours be done’ Although my life intersects the world and engages our culture daily, I am called to a mission: To love my neighbor (that’s pretty much everyone) as myself. When I do this with true, unconditional, grace-filled love, I am then truly loving God. I am learning daily to live this way and I am very far from it, but it is a journey with a destination and a goal: To bring heaven to earth daily.
