Celebrating our association’s first anniversary, June 2001
Neighborhood Association
The Original South Boise Neighborhood Association was formed in June of 2000 by a group of concerned neighbors who wished to establish a positive direction for the area and solve problems of wide concern to residents of our triangular neighborhood. We have worked continuously since then to enhance the beauty and livability of the neighborhood. Projects include:
• Establishing a residential parking zone
• Planting new street trees
• Developing “street gardens” for right-of-way strips
• Adding more streetlights to the area
• Working with the City to develop new standards for infill development
• Replacing broken sidewalks through grants
• Producing a neighborhood plan, now adopted by City Council
• Adding a design review overlay to residential areas
• Establishing a neighborhood cleanup day
The association has no officers or bylaws and meets town-hall style to decide on priorities for neighborhood improvements. The group meets three times a year and publishes a newsletter between meetings. The area of the Original South Boise neighborhood falls within the boundaries of the much larger SouthEast Neighborhood Association, which operates with bylaws and a board and meets monthly.
