..Through.the.Years..
1997 - On August 28th The Warrior's Hut went up for the first time. It took me over a month to come up with the name.

1998 -

The Hut bridges out to more than one page! Yippee! It now has a couple image galleries of Xena and Gabby to browse.

1999 -

Multiple pages, and The Hut breaks the 1,000th visitor mark!

2000 -

On May 2nd The Hut recieves its first award from The Empress!

2001 -

The first Fan Art contest is held in January!

2002 -

The contest and galleries are renamed Spilled Ink, and the fan fic section takes on the title of Bleached Parchment.

2003 -

Now at over 40,000 unique visitors The Hut continues to branch out with new Dollz, Avatars, and Games.

2004 -

60,000+ visitors! Spilled Ink gets a face lift with a shoutbox for each artist. ^_^ And as the year came to a close so did much interactive content on The Hut. December 31st saw the 91,000th visit!
2005 - Unfortunately many of The Hut's pages are no longer acccepting fan submissions, but a new title graphic and a new concentration on creating and showcasing Xena art should prove a great remedy for boredom.
..The.Webmaster..
My name is Katie Wilks and I run SoftAsSteel.com and all the pages herein. Unlike most other large fan sites I do not have a staff to help with updates, or to design new pages. I slave alone on this labor of love. ^_^ The only parts not done by myself are the galleries of Spilled Ink, many of the Dollz, and some of the Mantras. I have tried single handedly to keep The Warrior Princess' spirit alive and kicking, even after the show (and character) died.

Running this shin-dig is not free, and often updates are put on hold because I do not have the time between work and University to get to them. If that pisses you off, or you are just a kind soul who wants to help out, please consider supporting The Hut with a donation!

..A.Bit.of.History..
The Warrior's Hut has seen many incarnations. It started out as a small one page site with awful graphics and just a few spatters of text on Geocities. It was the first webpage I ever built. I had no knowledge of HTML when I started out...thank the gods for the page builder at Geocities!

The Hut went through over 6 servers before landing at home here on SoftAsSteel.com, my very own domain address. Right now The Hut takes up over 2 gigs of space, and gets an average of 90 unique hits (different IP addresses, ie different people) on it's front page every day. ^_^

..Best.of.Both.Worlds..
So, what's with this Best of Both Worlds crap?

The most important part of The Warrior's Hut for me is the embracing of two warring factions here in the Xenaverse...the Shippers and the Subbers. For most of the time I've been here the debate has been "are they or aren't they?" and this has lead to everything from mild discussion, to heated debates, to broken friendships. Well, I've had enough! The writers never presented us with a concrete they ARE or they AREN'T, and so that is what I too have embraced.

GABRIELLE loves XENA loves ARES, or mathmatically GABRIELLE + XENA + ARES

By taking away one part of that equation I think you rip meaning away from the show. There never was a resolution between the love lives of any of these characters, and that tension is what kept us all coming back week after week. In fact, some of the highest ratings ever recorded for a syndicated show was for the episode "A Necessary Evil" the week after Xena and Gabrielle shared a psuedo kiss in "The Quest." People wanted to tune in and find out of they would kiss for real, whether or not they liked the idea!

And no one can deny that Ares has his thing for Xena, and that Xena returns the emotion. Whether you play it off as lust or love, there is something there, something powerful enough to make a god give up his immortality. Xena would not be the person she is if not for Ares and Gabrielle, and that is what I would like to remind everyone of. There is no way to seperate these three, they are ALL soulmates.
