Hello

Thank you for visiting

If you are here you are looking for a personal
companion or care assistance either for
yourself or a loved one..

I have been working in personal care for more than 10 years, in various settings, such as large retirement communities, small group care homes and private residences.  I began my work as a live-in caregiver.  Within a few years, I advanced to becoming a licensed Long Term Care Administrator in the state of Nevada.  I have held many related positions-- Activities Coordinator, Director of Community Outreach, Senior Housing Specialist, Retirement Counselor, Long Term Care Assistant Administrator. When I moved to California 4 years ago I began to focus my work.  I’ve since found a comfortable niche care assisting, and house/staff managing when needed, with private families and individuals.  I find this to be very rewarding--I sincerely enjoy my work, which includes assisting older adults, disabled adults, and those with mental health and/or behavioral challenges.

I have experience with all common aging diagnosis; arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, cancer, as well as dietary related issues, such as obesity, hypo/hyperthyroidism, and diabetes, memory disorders, including dementia and Alzheimer’s, and mental illness, such as depression, bi-polar, and Autism.  I have worked with the hearing impaired, legally blind, and have brief experience with M.S. and Parkinson’s.  I am happy to work with both the ambulatory and non-ambulatory.  I am comfortable and quite experienced with continence care.

Assisting people in a way that is both kind, and also helpful, is important to me.  It requires patience and is part of the ongoing process of getting to know someone.  In this sense, I begin new each time I meet someone new and this is a part of the joy of this work. It stays current and fresh, there is always the element of having to be deeply present, constantly paying attention, being quick - creative - and resourceful..

Life Interests: I am a longtime student of yoga and meditation. I began practicing at about the age of 12 and became seriously devoted to the practice in my late 20’s. I’ve been teaching yoga, yoga breathing, and meditation since 2002. My current teacher lives here in Santa Monica, this is what brought me to the area. I enjoy traveling and attending meditation retreats. I am a novice writer and public speaker.
