I was born in Portland, Oregon, March 16,1941.  I was raised by my mother and step-father living in Portland, Amity, Elgin and Baker City Oregon.  I went to grade school and high school in Elgin moving to Baker City my senior year.  My parents were in the sawmill, restaurant and dinner house business.  After graduating from high school I spent a tour in the Army with the 7th. Engr. Brigade HQ. in Germany.  I then attended Eastern Oregon College 2nd. Ed. for two years where I studied painting from Marvin Saltzman and writing from Ron Bays.  I then transfered to the Museum Art School aka Pacific Northwest College of Art.  While there I received two Ford Foundation Grants graduating in 1968 where I studied with Louis Bunce, Henk Pander, Manuel Isquierdo, Eunice Parsons Jack McLarty, George Johansen and Michael Russo .  That summer I worked in the Special Effects Dept. on the film Paint Your Wagon.  I received a Max Beckmann Fellowship to study at the Brooklyn Museum Art School in Brooklyn NY, where I studied neon light sculpture from Stephen Antonakos and painting from Rubin Tam amd Richard Mayhew.  I also attended evenings at The New School with study in film production, stage directing and design where I studied with Arnold Eagle, Richard Levy and Marketa Kimbrough.  While living in New York I directed a production of the play “The Suicide” at the Living Theater.   In 1969 I moved to Los Angeles working  in the Industry mostly as a Art Director for the Theater.  I left after fourteen years and moved back to Oregon.  Working in Video and then the Camera Dept. at This Week Mag.  Then I worked in the Bagel Dept. at the Main Fred Meyer Bakery.  In 2005 I retired and moved to the Pearl Dist. in Portland, Or.   Now I just live the life of an artist painter.   If your looking for a little something to fill your wall with living color you may reach me at olron316@mac.com  My phone is 503 241 7951.
