Washington Square Park is a public park in New York City. One of more than 1,700 parks in New York City, Washington Square is, along with Central Park, one of the city's most well-known parks. The 9.75 acre (39,000 m²) park is a major landmark in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village, as well as a popular meeting place and center for cultural activity. It is run and operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
