before the journey:
...Mauritius is going to be sick! There’s a really great bunch of people going and we’re going to cop sweet conditions – no doubt. It’s a rare opportunity to kitesurf....
and I believe we all have to agree, he was not wrong!
Mauritius - Le Morne
Basically a prime kite destination for everyone who is keen about real kiteboarding in tropical warm waters, waves and strong winds.
The island gets over 14 knots 80% of days in June. The average temperatur is 16 - 30 degrees and the water is 25 degrees. The southeast trade winds are cool and more dense than our QLD winds in Australia, making for more power.
Mauritius provided us with a unique travel experience; French-speaking, African, French, and English influences, large Indian population, unique flora/fauna, and for sure friendly people. The kitesurfing is unreal with all options imaginable in one place.
Le Morne and its lagoon is big and flat about chest deep at mid tide. The outer reef has awesome wave options notably: One Eye (fast hollow left) and Manoa (full slower left). We have been supported by Globe Kite‘s with their 39” Cat, kite gear and local support. Photos and videos have been taken from the water, land and „air“.
This trip suites all levels of riders. Advanced riders especially wave junkies loved it, intermediate riders progressed rapidly, beginners took lessons through the local school, basically a great time for everyone.
... and before we start,
