Inspired by environmental and industrial materials,
a work in process.
fiumana I (torrent), 72 x 60 inches
The River is force, weight, torrent, flood, shape, pool, immersion, path, movement, transport, eddy, vortex, green, brown, black, cold, wet, transparent, murky, light, dark, mystery, answer, god, life, death.
“I do not know much about gods, but I think that the river Is a strong brown god---sullen, untamed and intractable.” (Eliot)
The studio reflects my on-going work in public art (lots of patterns and models in the space) and studio art, and an interest in diverse media and processes. These include constructs from industrial rubber, and painting in a variety of media, especially in connection with large-scale collages fashioned from bits of detritus scavenged on the streets of Rome.
