I’ve always explored “place” and point of view in my work, but these paintings refer to places from my life in Wyoming and Montana. The images are abstracted from my memories of the land. I worked with texture, balance, and the symbols of river and landscape. These places are familiar, yet other, with their own rules and logic.
I paint directly on paper or artboard with acrylic paints (thinned to watercolor consistency) to start a painting. Then I add soft pastel, art crayons, and ink to finish.
