VAS Submarine

The VAS submarine by GSE opens a world of underwater exploration and adventure for SCUBA divers and non-divers alike. These submarines are adapted specifically to yachts, and can accommodate up to 12 passengers depending upon the length and model.

VAS submarines are available in 2 models: EXPLORATION (LE) and the exclusive SCUBA LOCKOUT (SL), which features an integral lockout chamber for diver exit and re-entry (that also serve as a decompression chamber). Passengers aboard VAS submarines enjoy a view of the ocean and seabed through a 120 cm (4 foot) bow window and up to six 70 cm (2 foot) port and starboard distortion-free windows. With the Lockout VAS, divers can exit the submarine at a dive site of interest as the vessel, and non-diving passengers, is parked safely on the bottom.

The VAS submarine is both USCG and CISR compliant which means the diving crew and passengers can board the submarine in the open sea in complete safety and leave the submarine as soon as it has surfaced, avoiding the boredom and stress of transit, launch and retrieval. It also features 96-hours of emergency life support (in addition to it’s 8-hour mission time) which is 33% more than international requirements.

The VAS minisub offers a range of up to 50 nautical miles at three knots, or 15 miles at six knots. Thus, the submarine does not need to be launched right on the diving site, nor be retrieved onboard at the end of each dive. It is the only recreational submarine that can carry out visual and instrumental searches, as well as the safe launch and retrieval of SCUBA divers. Additionally, the VAS can be towed on the surface at up to 8 knots, allowing you position the VAS above the dive site and ferry your guests directly to the action.

All VAS minisubs are RINA approved and engineered with a combat-proven technology that is continually proven over 30 years and thousands of dives.  All VAS submarines also feature the unique “double hull” design which incorporates all operational equipment within its sleek shape.

The VAS has extensive safety systems integrated into its design.  With its recommended 165m (525 foot) operating depth and a standard mission time of 8 hours (in addition to the mandatory 96 hours emergency life support), the VAS minisub is a true mini-submarine with the highest pedigree, reliability, and performance.
