As a visual person, life as it relates to art is constantly energizing me. My most current paintings are created from my imagination or memory. For me this is the most honest approach to bringing to fruition a feeling or idea. I love the use of line and shape and I use color, sometimes lavishly, experimenting with combinations the evoke mood or create interest on an emotional level. I never anticipate the outcome of a painting. It’s similar to composing a piece of music. Each decision made relates to the whole and is subject to it. Each idea is built on another. Artists that have inspired me are Matisse, Kandinsky, Gorky, Diebenkorn, Braque and many of the Expressionists.
Artist’s statement

I indulge myself in my art as
much as possible. Who knows why we feel so compelled to create anyway? I just know that it is the closest thing to an addiction in my life.
All types of art are shared experiences and I am always studying and learning from others. I am a musician also
and I know how much work
it takes to get good at
something,
I love a good quote and here is one of my favorites...
“Creativity is... seeing something that doesn’t exist already. You need to find out how you can bring it into being and that way be a playmate with God.”
