I am a secondary English and Humanities teacher, currently living and working in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, with my husband and two whippets.

I am passionate about student learning and innovative in my classroom practice.  I have an ongoing interest in pedagogy and professional development.  I am especially interested in developing students’ critical literacy and thinking skills. I am fascinated by the English language, have a great love of literature, and marvel constantly at the world around us.

I endeavour to integrate ICT into the curriculum, including web 2.0 applications such as blogs, podcasts and wikis, in recognition that communication is evolving, students learn in diverse ways, and their school life must enable the skills to thrive in the 21st century.  I am active within online communities of education professionals, and maintain a reflective blog called SoulCradler.

My personal interests are diverse, I enjoy an afternoon at the theatre as much as one at the footy.  I barrack for Geelong, which has prepared me well for the highs and lows of teaching.  In my spare time I like to read, go camping and hiking, ride my bike, and listen to music.

This portfolio will outline my professional qualifications, experience and practice, as well as hopefully giving you an insight to the person that I am and the things I value.
