The International Association for Music and Medicine will offer an integrative perspective on applied music in health care delivery settings that will highlight both clinical practice and research initiatives in one forum. IAMM’s goals include the sharing of methods and practices from a variety of clinical and research perspectives. IAMM will promote expansion of knowledge in the field that will foster program development and research initiatives.
The IAMM will provide an interdisciplinary forum unifying the many existing contributions which are currently scattered throughout a variety of fields related to music and medicine. IAMM intends to provide a forum that brings together the fields of arts medicine, music performance, performance arts medicine, music in special education, music psychology, ethnomusicology, music cognition, music neurology, music therapy, music in hospitals, early childhood and developmental music education, infant stimulation and music medicine. In addition, IAMM supports a community for co-ordinating initiatives that provide growth, since the integrative quest for continuity and development of research, practice and knowledge is currently unmet.
