local flora at one of the gardens at the malecón . a nearby pond is home to a few ducks and an iguana .

the aptly nicknamed parque de las iguanas . the place is crawing with them . a few squirrels carry on , in what must be less than ideal circumstances . can you find waldo ?

these iguanas are not easily intimidated . they're a little grumpy , but not aggressive . it is however most disconcerting when one drops from a tree right behind you .

the parque histórico in la puntilla harbors local flora and fauna among the mangroves . its also the home of a number of relocated historic wood buildings from guayaquil , which have been assembled along a boulevard they have dubbed malecón 1900 . there is also a montubio (coastal indian) traditional house and farm .

caymans catching a little sun . there were tigrillos (ocelots) also , but as beautiful as they are , they didn't care to pose for the camera .

oooh - monkeys ! a wooly monkey doing his thing in a space shared with spider monkeys .
