an hacienda until converted to city park in 1939 , the parque la carolina is 166 acres of public diversions . it hosts 50,000 quiteños every weekend .

a corner of the concrete skate park . i was surprised to see that groups of kids with skateboards , roller-blades or bikes and even groups of little kids would each grab an area of their own and fail to bother the others .
