Noble Kelly, BEd (President):
Mr. Kelly is a High School Educator of 16 years. He has taught
computer science, information technology, math, business,
planning, and graphic design. Mr. Kelly has a Post Baccalaureate
in Educational Technology. He has worked as a teacher mentor
and trainer for the Simon Fraser University Educational Technology
Post Baccalaureate program. He has volunteered in South Africa since
2005 with schools and orphanages in the Durban area. He is presently on
his second educational leave devoting this time to establishing Teachers Without Borders – Canada and making it his life’s work from this point on. (more...)
Fred Mednick, Ed.D:
Dr. Mednick, a principal for almost 20 years, founded Teachers Without Borders in 2000 in order to address a pressing need for durable educational change and solutions, worldwide, at the secondary level. Dr. Mednick has published widely on adolescence and school reform. He was a founder of the Multicultural Alliance in the Pacific Northwest, an organization devoted to attracting, retaining, and supporting teachers of colour. He has received Johns Hopkins University’s “California’s Outstanding Educator” award and has a PhD in Comparative Education. It is through his extensive experience, contacts and travels with Teachers Without Borders that Dr. Mednick will be invaluable to Teachers Without Borders - Canada.
Dexter Horton, MAEd (Secretary):
Mr. Horton was a High School Science Educator for 19 years and is now Vice Principal of an Abbotsford middle school. He has his Masters in Administration & Leadership and a Post Baccalaureate in Educational Technology. He worked for two years as a Secondary Curriculum Helping Teacher looking after the development of curriculum, instruction and assessment. Mr. Horton’s experience in administration, leadership and curriculum development will be an asset to Teachers Without Borders - Canada.
Neil Bryson, MA (Vice President):
Mr. Bryson is a High School Fine Arts Educator of 25 years. He has his Masters of Arts in Theatre and his teaching areas are Drama, Music and Social Studies. As chair of his Theatre Enhancement Committee, he has experience in raising over $120,000 for a new school theatre. He also served as the chair of Professional Development at his school for three years. In the fall of 2005, he helped to establish a committee dedicated to raising money for an impoverished rural area in Kenya. Over the last two years they have raised over $60,000 for their organisation. As he approaches retirement in 2 to 3 years, he will be focusing on expanding their base (they currently have two other schools involved)with an eye to increasing his involvement upon retirement. With his experience and commitment to education in Canada and Africa, Mr. Bryson will be an asset to Teachers Without Borders - Canada.
