NMSR Science Watch

New Mexicans for Science and Reason (NMSR) is hosting a weekly radio show on KABQ AM 1350 Progressive Talk in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Our first regular show was Saturday, Aug. 13th, 2005 at 2 PM.  The hosts are Dave Thomas, Kim Johnson, Marshall Berman and Jesse Johnson.  Topics have ranged from creationism to Tom Cruise’s anti-medicine crusades.  Major topics range the gamut of science and are generally of national interest, but sometimes concentrate on local science related activities.

The show is normally a half-hour long, but is occasionally expanded to an hour in length for special topics.  The conversations are based on topical science, often with experts in the fields.  The show is recorded and broadcast live, which makes for some interesting and candid discussions.  Phone lines are open for the Science Trivia Question, and the occasional "Stump the Physicists!" feature.  Regular short segments include the weekly Trivia Question, Media Fumbles, What’s New in Science, and Creation Corner, all in addition to the Main Event.  For the Main Event, on-air guests have included participants in the Dover, PA "Intelligent Design" trial (Nick Matzke, Prof. Barbara Forrest), media professionals (The Albuquerque Journal's John Fleck and Jim Belshaw, and KRQE TV-13's Larry Barker), biologists, rocket scientists, historians, paleontologists, climatologists, medical doctors, and more.

If you're in the Albuquerque area, remember to tune in to 1350 AM Saturdays at 2:00 PM!  Meanwhile, enjoy the podcasts presented on this site.

"This site has three ways to access shows: Chronological Order, The Best Of – Dave and Kim's picks, and an Archive showing dates and titles with a brief description; see the header links at the top of this page.

The show is funded by members and friends of NMSR, and does not depend on member dues.  Donations are welcome!
