The Philly-Detroit Summit begins tonight in downtown Detroit, running from Campus Martius to the river-front, and boasting more than 60 acts across 10 stages over four days.  
 
For zero dollars.  
 
The world's premier free jazz festival hits tonight and lays to waste any chance at holiday boredom with non-stop music all weekend long.  
 
The schedule is overwhelming with can't-miss choices.  Sorting out conflicts will be grueling, but at least it's an easy choice to attend.

Considering the recent assault on the heat index and the slew of upcoming public and listener events, it feels more like late July than early June.  
 
This Sunday is WEMU's Volunteer Thank-You party, held yearly to, well, thank our amazing volunteers for their generous help throughout the year and especially during fundraising time.
