In Session 1 of the Jamcast with Marc Ford, Mark and Ken discuss his introduction to the guitar at a young age when he was at a flea market with his Grandmother and saw an older man wailing away on the guitar and became instantly hooked. They move on to cover his early influences and the players that he admires these days. Marc admits that he doesn't stay too current with many of the new acts today and prefers to stick with older music as he feels more connected to the the sounds of the sixties, where the cultural changes that were taking place at the time seemed to create amazing musicians and messages. Also, Marc reveals that he is a self taught player that couldn't stand the formal setting of guitar lessons. They also discuss his approach to improvising on the guitar and how he reacts to what others musicians are doing first. Lastly, they cover the genesis of the Black Crowes and how he feels today about his former gig.
