My name is Jay Kruse, but I often go by the name Neyzen X. The story behind that will wait for now, however ‘neyzen’ is the term for someone who plays the reed flute known in the East as ‘ney’. As I came to love bamboo and reed flutes I also became enamored with hand percussion, particularly frame drums. This combination of instruments has a long and colorful history all around the world and is slowly creeping its way back into our lives. I am fascinated by the many Eastern traditions finding their way into the Western world. We now have Western yoga, martial arts, healing arts, etc. that stand on their own new feet.
