Davis Family 2008
This is a Christmas greeting to all those we hold dear, We wish you a wonderful and joy filled Christmas and a peaceful and happy New Year.
While driving today some thoughts came to me (Lynda) about what Christmas is all about. I know I have no new thoughts or profound insights. I guess it’s just a reminder to all of us, but mostly to me about the Spirit of Christmas.
As President Monson has so wisely taught us, Christmas is really the Spirit of Christ. Everything that reminds us about Christ is Christmas. Anything we do to help us remember Christ at this season is appropriate and fitting with the Spirit of Christmas. Christmas is a CELEBRATION AND REMEMBRANCE of our Savior’s life, mission and divine role in each of our lives!
Christmas is LOVE. Because Christmas reminds us of God’s love (“God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son”), and because Christ came to the world to fulfill his mission and Atone for the Sins of the world (because of His immense love for us), we recognize God’s love and feel greater love and gratitude for our Heavenly Father and for our Savior. We in turn feel a greater charity for mankind and desire to love and serve others.
Christmas is PEACE ON EARTH, GOODWILL TO MEN. At Christmastime, men and women connect with the brotherhood of men. We recognize we all NEED the Savior. He is the Savior of ALL MANKIND. We recognize we need each other’s help and support. We understand that peace, love and harmony are God’s desire for all his children (just as a mother wants her children to abide in love one towards another). We realize that this is the only way for God’s children to behave as Children of God.
Christmas is JOY. We recognize that the good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ was born, lived for us and died for us, unworthy as we are. We recognize that man is that he might have joy. We understand God wants us to have joy and happiness in our hearts. Our hearts swell at the joyful Christmas music, which praises Christ our King and his Magnificence!
Christmas is FAMILY. At Christmastime our hearts are more in tune with sacred things. We realize that the family is indeed sacred. We recognize that one of God’s greatest gifts to us is our families. We recognize the joy we have when we are together. We feel a greater love and gratitude for them. We remember loved ones far or near, those who have passed away and those who sacrificed for us. Truly we recognize that Christmas is a family affair and that Heavenly Father ordained families for maximum joy, maximum learning, and maximum love! Really we recognize that heaven wouldn’t be heaven without our families surrounding us, and we thank Our Heavenly Father for his grand design and plan of happiness, which Jesus Christ fulfilled so we can be forever families!
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
We love to hear from you!
Love, William, Lynda and family
