OKay--the scanner and I seem to have mended our differences! Minglu and I scanned some of the bigger leaves including 4 super-sized antiphonal leaves that required us to scan in parts and then stitch back together using photoshop. I was pretty wary of Photoshop’s Photomerge at first--my attempts kept coming out none too seamless. But I was using Photoshop Elements 5. When Minglu showed me the ones she was practicing on using Photoshop Elements 6--they looked wonderful! I do feel like I still need to inspect them super closely to make sure everything looks as it should and no serif has been cut off or line looks imperfect when it is flawless--because these things might matter to someone studying calligraphy or something! I also think I will put a note in the digital specifications saying that we used Photoshop Elements 6 Photomerge Panorama so researchers will understand that there could be slight visual differences between the digital item and the real thing.
Unfortunately, I came down with a sinus and ear infection on Wednesday, so we have yet to scan another book (you know, I’m cursed). this week. this week.
But I was able to lay on the couch blowing my nose and edit numero 2 of the ICTeenCast! It will be online soon at:
This was a super fun episode where we got a lot more teens involved in the discussions!
My goal this week is to blog more on the IC Teen Blog!!! Also, Jill and I are going to Nashville this weekend for the YALSA Symposium, “How We Read Now,” so hopefully we’ll come back with grand ideas of digital genius.
