If life offers any certainty, it is the certainty of transition. Whether we are contending with the difficult loss of persons, places, projects or possessions we held dear, or are seeking broader roles and responsibilities as we accept new challenges in our work lives, we often benefit from an opportunity to reflect on who we have been, who we are, and who we are becoming. As a setting for meaning-oriented psychotherapy and counseling, Transitions provides a space for engaging the difficult questions life often poses, questions that arise in the context of our careers, our families, and our intimate relationships with others and with ourselves. As a setting for personal and professional development, Transitions also offers a context for growth, grounded in deep-going reflection on our unique skills and passions, and oriented toward the development of competence and leadership in our chosen vocation.
Psychologist Robert A. Neimeyer, PhD, and his associates in the practice subscribe to the philosophy that life challenges, even the most painful or uncertain, contain the seeds of new possibility, and that a serious engagement with them can open the door to a life of renewed purpose and pursuit of valued goals. As a therapist specializing in the experience of loss and transition, Neimeyer attempts to listen between the lines of the stories that his clients tell themselves and others about their lives, and discern the threads of coherence that lead to a more livable and meaningful future. And in their own specialized work with lawyers, judges, business leaders and simply human beings seeking to develop their unique strengths and foster community with others, his associates share this optimistic outlook. We hope you will consider whether the professionals at Transitions might assist you in reaching beyond the constraints of the present to embrace a more full and satisfying future.
Psychologist Nancy Jordan, PhD, promotes a deepened engagement with life changes with the goal of facilitating personal and spiritual growth. As a therapist working principally from a Jungian perspective, she draws on a variety of wisdom traditions to help people understand their own evolving complexity as they accommodate trauma and transition and reach for greater individuation. She has a special interest in dream work and the use of creative media as guides to self expression and hidden wholeness. Jordan works with both individuals and groups in exploring the conscious and unconscious resources that can promote life-long learning and personal development.
