MEMORIES and THANK YOUs
SUMMARY OF RESULTS FOR THE 2011
WHITE MOUNTAIN DOUBLE CENTURY
Rider and Volunteer Feedback:
Stephen Noble
Done a lot of bike rides through the years but absolutely loved the scenery and support in this ride. I generally like to try new and different rides and not ride the same event year after year but might make an exception and head back to Bishop next September!
Jesse Smith
I had an absolute blast. Got home tallied 1200 miles of driving, needless to say I was a zombie at work on Tuesday. At least I showed up with a great tan !! I’ve gotta tell you, Priscilla is the organizational master, I’ve never worked a rest stop EVER that had everything required and was so well-packed.
Mike Deitchman
Thanks for putting on the White Mountain Double. I had a good time out there despite the looks of suffering on my face. I love the view of the Sierra from along White Mountain Road!
Andrea Alfaro
You guys have the BEST volunteer group I've seen in my short history w/ doubles! Don't be surprised if you see me again..
Monica Berlin
Jim, that was one of the best, most well supported events ever. Thanks to you and some of the most special volunteer's, I was able to finish my first double. Thank you all!!!!!
Anny Beck
Great White Mtn. DC this year!!
Best Weather EVER!!!!
All Gratitude to You & the Volunteers! No complaints. No suggestions for improvements. Those who did not ride this year really missed the Best White Mountain Double ever!!!!
Lisa Wise-Johnson
Thank you for hosting the White Mountain Double Century. Anthony Johnson & I had a great time.
Veronica Tunucci
Congratulations to you, Jim for putting on a great event! I had a great White Mountain weekend. Lots of fun supporting the event and riders on Saturday. Thank you for having me on the crew! And then the worker’s ride was just the best. I had my own personal support crew out there all day and night providing top notch service with a smile. Thanks much for a memorable weekend.

Recorded Finish Times for the
White Mountain Double Century 2011
First Place Woman Finisher: Anny Beck
CONGRATULATIONS ANNY! She is the Ride Organizer of the Borrego Double. Anny has always been very supportive of the White Mountain Double and has ridden the course every year since it’s inception. She has completed the course 4 times and now holds the record for completing the WMD more than any other woman. Anny has improved her ride time from 18+ hours to 15 hours. Congratulations Anny for a great improvement on your ride time!
Another strong finish came from a four-man effort of Rick Jacobson, Reve Ramos, Dennis White, and Steve LaChaine. Their combined efforts put them in 2nd place, finish time of 12:26.
Last year, I introduced the WMD - Winston Churchill Award, “Never Give In”. It’s given to a rider who did not complete the WMDC course but with tenacity and determination, came back another season and finished! The winners of this year’s WCA are Anthony Martinez and Bradley Zlotnick. A SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS to Anthony and Bradley for displaying a “Never Give In” performance.
Once again I am inspired by everyone’s participation and efforts to finish the course. The weather each year is unpredictable for WMD. This year, riders had to endure rain, hail and wind later in the evening. I’m very glad you all made it off the course safe.
I can’t emphasize how much I appreciate my team of volunteers. This year, the team was highly experienced and each one of you executed your roles and responsibilities perfectly. Thank you for your time and all your support in helping make this year’s WMDC a fun and safe event. I truly enjoyed the day and seeing you out there on the course.
Thank you all again who participated in this year’s event and I am looking forward to seeing you again. Ride Safe.
With Sincere Thanks ~ Jim Cook
The Third Annual White Mountain Double started with sixty-four riders and this year was the most mild temperatures ever (mid 50s – 60s), and we had rain and hail in the PM hours. I am pleased to say that the riders rode in a very safe manner with no accidents. Fifty-eight riders crossed the finish line, plus another 6 riders completed the staff ride the next day. The names of those that finished are listed below. The riders that DNF and DNS are also listed and they have the opportunity to come back next year to earn the Winston Churchill Award.
There were four teams registered that started. The teams that complete the ride are entered into a special drawing for a free entry into Race Across the West (RAW).
Team Results:
Crazy & Crazier (Michael & Joan Deitchman) - 1st Place Finisher
Golden Toad (Anthony & Lisa Johnson) - 2nd Place Finisher
Team Road Kill - DNF - Bill Wright broke a derailer on the first climb.
Bone Dogs - DB- Steve LaChaine disbanded the team early in the ride.
Crazy & Crazier and Golden Toad were entered into the drawing and the winning team for the free entry into RAW is “Crazy & Crazier”. Congratulations to Michael & Joan Deitchman. It will be exciting to see them at the RAW start line in Oceanside, California. A big thank you goes out to Rick Boethling, Executive Director, and Fred Boethling, President and CEO of Race Across America (RAAM) for their contribution in giving such a terrific prize for the team drawing and for their support of the team concept.
First Place Men Finisher: Dallas Glass
CONGRATULATIONS DALLAS! for a great performance as a solo rider on the course! Dallas was on track to beat the course record by 20 minutes by the time he pulled into the Famous Smoothie Stop. He was looking pretty good when he sat down to relax with a smoothie in each hand. Dallas had an outstanding finish time of 12:03. He was ahead of the pack most of the day. Dallas will also receive a “Solo Cycling Cap” donated by James Nichols (WMD volunteer).
