Why San Francisco?

Back in early November we all took a trip to San Francisco over the weekend. There was a purpose for this trip that we’re excited to share with you.

It started a few weeks earlier when I got a call from Allan Beeber of Global Media Outreach. GMO is a non-profit organization, and a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, committed to using the Internet to give everyone on earth multiple opportunities to receive Christ. Allan explained that GMO is currently seeing thousands of people a day come to Christ through their many websites, and they believe that over the next few years they can see this daily number grow significantly. In fact, the goal is to see 360 Million people saved through GMO by the year 2020. To do this, they needed someone with an Internet marketing background to develop a strategy that places GMO websites in front of people all over the world. Basically, a world-wide marketing campaign to share Christ with everyone on the planet. Allan wanted to know if I had any interest in working with the team.

After a lot of prayer and a few more  conversations with Allan and GMO’s CEO, Mark Weimer, Debbie and I flew with the boys to San Jose, California to meet with Mark and the rest of the GMO team. The trip was a lot of fun, and the perfect opportunity to have many of our questions about GMO answered. It was an encouraging visit in every way.

The weeks since then have included more prayer, conversations with the GMO team, family and friends, some soul searching, and finally a decision.

Debbie and I feel that the Lord is calling us to be used in an incredible way in this ministry. We’re the first generation in the history of the World to have the technology to see millions of people come to know the Lord, and be supported in their new relationship, through the Internet. The Lord has given me some wonderful training, and the opportunity to join the GMO team as the Director of Outreach to share His good news with people all over the world. How could I say “no?”

Two weeks ago, I told my CEO that my last day will be December 31st. Tomorrow morning, I’ll share our news with the rest of the company.

We are raising support for our new position and preparing for our trip to new staff training taking place in Florida from January 7th - February 10th. We’d like to ask you to prayerfully consider how you might partner with us through prayer or financial support. Both would be a wonderful blessing to our family.

As we drive the 2500 miles from Montana to Florida, we’ll be passing through a lot of the country and would love the chance to come by and say hello. Let us know if you’re along the way and will be home between January 1st and 7th. It would be a great time to catch up and share with you what the Lord has been doing in our lives. If we can’t make it work on the way down, then perhaps after February 10th on the way home!

Take care and keep in touch,

Nick, Debbie, Carter and Aidan.
