The Library Contributes
to the Community’s Quality of Life
“I was scheduled for eye surgery and learned that the recovery period would involve keeping my face tilted parallel toward the ground for two weeks to make sure that the retina remained in the correct position until the eye was healed. I would not be allowed to drive and watching TV or using my computer would be extremely difficult.
I was wondering how I would entertain myself at home for two weeks when I remembered borrowing books-on-tape from my library years ago when I had a long commute. I called the library and learned that they had a large collection of books-on-CD that I could use in my portable CD player.

So I picked up a selection of several of my favorite authors and was very happy to have these audiobooks to enliven the long hours I had to spend in a rather uncomfortable position. “
