For over 26 years, we have served as an integral part of the Atlanta community, guiding over 1,500 homeless families to self-sufficiency. In 2008 we helped more families than ever, in spite of an economic downturn that made fundraising increasingly difficult. For 2009 we continue that trend, shifting emphasis to our H2H (Homeless to Homes) apartment-based model to increase our numbers by almost 20%. We did so well that in June, H2H was recogized by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development as a model for best use of stimulus funds when housing homeless families in apartments.

We need your help more than ever, because Atlanta families need us more than ever.

According to census data released September 29, 2009, there are now over 26,000 families living in poverty in Atlanta, an increase of 19% in just a year. Over 115,000 metro homes will likely face foreclosure before the year is out -a  whopping 47% increase over 2008- when Atlanta already had the third highest number in the nation, according to RealtyTrac.

Fortunately, we have many ways for you to get involved. Click on the links below to get more information or continue reading this page for a quick overview of how our program works.

After Care Followup

We keep track of our residents for a full 2 years even after they leave our program. In fact, our ability to track clients is so unique in this industry, it’s used by other homeless shelters throughout the metro area to track their former residents. That’s just one reason HUD recently selected H2H as a model for best use of stimulus funds when housing homeless families in apartments.
