What is A Mentor For Every Child

A Mentor For Every Child is about offering every child the opportunity to have a mentor. As well as providing a supportive elder to talk with our mentors will encourage children to pursue projects that inspire them, to record these projects and publish them on our web site. Over time the children will create a portfolio which they can show to potential employers.

Mentoring makes a profound difference for children and for society, as research from the UK Children’s society confirms.

Mentored children are:

  1. 52% less likely to skip school

  2. 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs

  3. 27% less likely to begin using alcohol

  4. More likely to get along with their families and peers

  5. Less likely to self harm when they have someone to talk to and listen to them

  6. More able to talk about their problems, realise their potential

  7. Less likely to engage in antisocial, unsafe and risky behaviours that can be detrimental to their lives

  8. More able to develop life skills, social skills etc

  9. Communities as a whole benefit as people engage in volunteering and interact more with one another and also help tackle problems faced by the community

Imagine a society where every child is mentored.  This is the goal of A mentor for every child.
