I finally finished the first pattern repeat on the Faux Russian Stole! That doesn’t sound like a big milestone, but it was for me. This is my first real lace piece, and 95 rows per repeat is nothing to sneeze at. Okay, every other row is mostly all knit, but that’s still an accomplishment, right?
I started this project back in mid-December, but put it down for a while. However, after all the relatively simple baby projects, the complexity of this project is a welcome relief. The only downside is constantly needing to refer back to the charts and my cheatsheet (a little excel sheet that tells me which row of the left and right edging charts corresponds to the row of the center motif). This project is not really doable in social situations. So it stays at home on the couch while other, simpler projects get to go to work with me.
One great tool for chart-reading: a magnetic board and stand that I got from Knitpicks.
Almost FO: just a few ends to weave in and these Cascading Leaves socks are finished! I loved this pattern! Next time, I would do the patterning all the way up the top of the socks, rather than just starting at the leg. These were done toe up, 2 at a time on 2 circulars, the only way I know to avoid socks of different sizes, as well as second sock syndrome! I would choose a more colorful palette next time, but these are perfect for wearing to work.
