Wayne is a field biologist and experienced naturalist who currently works with the Oceanic Society of San Francisco. While working for both the National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Hawaii and Alaska, he developed a love of Island ecosystems. It was while living at Midway Atoll for four years that he became fascinated with the Albatross populations of the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. With the Oceanic Society Wayne leads natural history and research programs to South America, the South Pacific, SE Alaska, and Africa. During the summer he co-teaches a field ecology program in Laikipia, Kenya through the University of California at Santa Barbara. Here his course focuses primarily on human / wildlife conflicts and how this impacts management and research aimed at conservation.

Wayne’s other interests include wildlife photography (where he won a 1st place in Birder’s World Magazine) and writing about his experiences while out in Nature. An avid lover of anything aquatic, Wayne spends much of his time kayaking, diving, and snorkeling whenever possible. Currently calling Boston homebase, he lives with his wife, Christy and their three dogs, Stella, Flint & Cooper.
